This month, we’ll be seeing a new premium electric SUV and possibly CNG alternatives of two premium hatchbacks
Update (11/10/2022): BYD has unveiled the Atto 3 electric vehicle in India. It gets a 60.48kWh battery pack and can cover a range of 521km.
The month of October is here and that means the start of the festive season. This month we’re going to see another important launch from BYD and possibly two new CNG cars, that will be the first ones in their segment. Nissan, after a long time, is set to reveal something in India soon. Lastly, we’re seeing some festive season additions from other manufacturers as well.
Here are the top five cars that we’re expecting to see this October:
BYD Atto 3
Launch Date - October 11
Expected Prices - Rs 30 Lakh Onwards
After recently entering the private buyer space with the e6 MPV, BYD is bringing its second model - the Atto 3 SUV. The premium electric SUV gets 50kWh and 60kWH battery packs globally, offering a range of up to 420 kilometers. Features on board should include a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen system, a panoramic sunroof, and a full-blown ADAS suite. The Atto 3 will be locally assembled and is expected to be offered in a single fully-loaded variant priced at around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will serve as a premium alternative to the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric.
Toyota Glanza CNG
Launch Date - October End
Expected Prices - Rs 8.5 Lakh Onwards
As per a recent Delhi RTO document, Toyota might introduce CNG variants of the Glanza soon. With this, it would be the first premium hatchback to get such an alternative fuel version. As per the document, save for the base variant, the other three would get the CNG option. The car’s 1.2-litre engine will deliver 77PS and 98.5Nm in CNG mode and be paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The CNG variants should command a premium of around a lakh rupees over their corresponding petrol variants.
Maruti Baleno CNG
Launch Date - October End
Expected Prices - Rs 8.5 Lakh Onwards
Just like its Toyota sibling, the Maruti Baleno is also expected to get its own CNG version. The carmaker already has seven CNG cars on sale. The Baleno shares its engine with the Swift and Dzire, which already come with a CNG kit. The power figures will be similar to the Dzire and Swift, which deliver 77PS and 98.5Nm when running on CNG. The alternative fuel variants of the car are expected to cost Rs 1 lakh over the corresponding petrol variants.
Nissan’s Mystery Car
Launch Date - October 18
After a considerable amount of time, Nissan is coming up with something new. The marque has not disclosed any further details yet. We’re expecting the carmaker to introduce the Ariya EV as a fully imported electric SUV or the X-Trail SUV, another CBU model which is available with mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants in Europe, here.
