Toyota Etios may double Toyota's sales by 2013

A spokesperson from the Japanese auto maker, Toyota Motors, said on Wednesday, that the company is predicting that it will double the sales by next year. The credit for the accelerating sales will be the launch of its new car in the speedily growing domestic auto sector. Toyota Motors launched its much awaited Toyota Etios sedan model in India yesterday (1st December, 2010). The Japanese auto biggies will enter the Indian auto market with two models of the Toyota Etios the sedan version and the hatchback version Toyota Etios Liva, which was unveiled yesterday but will be launched in April 2011. The launch of the sedan was in Bangalore in the presence of Akio Toyoda the President of Toyota Motors. Akio Toyoda, while expressing himself said that, the Indian auto market is a very important auto market for Toyota Motors growth. The launch of Toyota Etios in the passenger car segment is breakthrough for Toyota Motors.
Sandeep Singh, the deputy managing director of Toyota Kirloskar, said that, the company is likely to sell 73,000 cars in India by the end of 2010. Toyota Motors in India is a joint venture with Kirloskar group of India. With the introduction of hatchback Toyota Etios Liva, Japanese auto maker will enter small car segment of Indian auto market which is already multitude with various cars from the auto biggies in this segment. The domestic auto market is accelerating which has lured various auto giants across globe to invest in the Indian auto segment. The magnet is played by the small car segment in the Indian auto market which is loaded with various hatchback models but is still being explored by the car makers.
The French automobile manufacturer Renault India, is planning to launch five new cars in a time span of two years from mid 2011 to mid 2013. By 2013, Toyota Kirloskar, will invest almost Rs 5 billion ($110 million) in the Indian auto sector in the wake of increasing local manufacturing of Toyota Etios sedan version, which was launched in Bangalore, on 1st December. As per Hiroshi Nakagawa, the managing director of Toyota Kirloskar Motors, said that, the company hopes to manufacture 90 per cent of Toyota Etios in India, by 2013. At present, 70 per cent of new saloon version will be manufactured in India. The company plans to sell 70,000 Toyota Etios sedan and hatchback version by 2011. The sedan version which was launched recently, is available in five variants with a price tag of Rs 4,96,000 to Rs 6,86,500 ex-showroom, New Delhi. With launch of its new cars the Japanese auto giant has entered the competitive passenger car market of India. And with the price at which it comes has already created ripple in the auto segment. The car will pitch against Maruti Swift Dzire and Tata Manza.
