Toyota Etios to debut with sedan, hatchback to follow in 3 months

Toyota Etios is all set to be launched on December 1st. Toyota Motors will launch the sedan model first and then hatchback model will follow. Toyota Motors future to a great extent depends on the new car and it expects to expand its position in the Indian auto market and wishes to capture a major share in the domestic market. The company wish to repeat the same success story of Toyota Corolla. The luxury sedan was launched almost four decades back, since then, 2.4 crore and more Toyota Corolla are running worldwide. The Japanese car maker Toyota Motors for a long time has been looking for range of vehicles to rule the domestic market, just like its rivals Suzuki Motors which is the czar of the small car segment in India. The new car from the company, Toyota Etios is in manufacturing since four years and the requirement of this kind of small car was felt from a long time by the company.

Hiroshi Nakagawa, Managing Director of Toyota said that, currently the company has the capacity of producing 70,000 cars every year which the company is planning to expand to 80,000. The company plans to make 140,000 to 150,000 cars in a month. The second plant which will be coming soon will produce Toyota Etios only. If the stats are reviewed, Maruti Suzuki sells as many as 10 lacs units every year. Toyota wants to capture a major market share by selling equivalent or more units every year. As per Nakagawa, the ratio of variants hatchback and sedan production will depend on the customers demand for the new car. Toyota plans to manufacture as many as 70,000 Toyota Etios which will include sedan and hatchback models.

Toyota Etios sedan is speculated to be priced between Rs 6 to Rs 8 lacs and will compete with the rivals Tata Manza and Maruti Swift Dzire. Sandeep Singh, the deputy managing director of marketing in Toyota Kirloskar Motors, said that, the B segment is a growing one in the Indian auto market which is accelerating speedily. There are other big players too entering the auto market in this segment. As per Mr. Singh, the company has manufactured an excellent vehicle at competitive pricing. Mr Nakagawa said that, the company has 120 dealers across India which the company will expand to 160 by the year end. The company also wishes to expand on human resource which will help in enhancing the customers request and experience. He added that, the recent addition of dealers from B and C class cities and as per the strategies by the company it will sell 70 per cent of the cars in towns and big cities. Toyota Etios will mark an equal ratio across India by selling 50-50 per cent of cars. The booking of the new car will start after the launch of the car on 1st December.
