Toyota Glanza And Urban Cruiser To Receive Updates After Their Maruti Siblings

While the Baleno/Glanza will get a facelift, the Urban Cruiser/Vitara Brezza will get a new generation

• The Glanza and Urban Cruiser are rebadged Baleno and Vitara Brezza, respectively. 

• The facelifted Toyota cars will go on sale after the debut of the new Baleno and Brezza. 

• The hatch should receive new LED headlamps, a larger touchscreen infotainment, an updated driver’s display, and connected car tech.

• The SUV should gain an electric sunroof, paddle shifters, a new instrument cluster, and more airbags. 

• No mechanical changes onboard the Glanza, but the Urban Cruiser could get a newer automatic transmission. 

Maruti is going to launch the facelifted Baleno and the new-gen Vitara Brezza soon. Going forward, we are expecting Toyota to bring the updated Glanza and Urban Cruiser soon after the Maruti’s launch. 

The Toyota cars will get the same updates that we will see onboard the Baleno and Vitara Brezza. The Glanza and Urban Cruiser have just crossed the 1-lakh cumulative sales mark, since their launch in June 2019 and September 2020. Here are the changes: 

2022 Toyota Glanza

Going on the lines of the Baleno, the facelifted Toyota Glanza will get a refreshed front fascia with a wider grille, a reworked bumper, and new LED headlamps and DRLs. The side and rear profiles will sport new alloys, a slightly tweaked tailgate, a new bumper, and redesigned LED tail lamps. 

The cabin will also receive a major overhaul including a fresh dashboard design, new climate control switches, and a larger free-standing touchscreen infotainment system. It will also gain features such as connected car tech, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the Swift’s flat bottom steering wheel, and an updated driver’s display. 

No mechanical changes are expected onboard, as the hatch should continue with its 83PS 1.2-litre and 90PS 1.2-litre Dualjet mild-hybrid petrol engines. The 5-speed manual and CVT transmission options should be retained as well. 

2022 Toyota Urban Cruiser

The Vitara Brezza/Urban Cruiser will be getting a generation upgrade with redesigned exterior and interior. 

Going by the spy shots, the front gets a new chrome grille, headlights, bumper, and bonnet. It will further gain new alloy wheels, new rear bumper, new, sharper and horizontally placed tail lamps, and a reshaped boot lid with the ‘Brezza’ inscription. 

The cabin will undergo a complete makeover, which will now feature a flat-bottom steering wheel, a larger free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, and a new instrument cluster with a larger MID.

New features onboard will include an electric sunroof, paddle shifters, connected car tech, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. All these features will be a first for Maruti. The updated Vitara Brezza/Urban Cruiser is expected to get safer with more airbags. 

While the SUV should continue with its 104PS 1.5-litre petrol engine and 5-speed manual gearbox, the optional 4-speed automatic might be replaced by a newer unit. It might also get an optional CNG kit, since Maruti is focusing on the cleaner fuel. 

Both the cars are expected to demand a premium over their current prices. We are expecting the facelifted Glanza and the new-gen Urban Cruiser to go on sale in the first half of this year.
