If you’re looking to buy a Maruti Suzuki Baleno but don’t want the Suzuki badges, you can get the Toyota Glanza very soon. The carmaker has now confirmed that it will be launching the Glanza on 6 June 2019.
After being spied multiple times at various Toyota outlets, it has been confirmed that the Glanza will share the exact same exterior and interior as the Baleno variants it is based on. Toyota will be offering it with only one engine though: a BS6 1.2-litre Dual Jet Dual VVT petrol engine that makes 84PS and 115Nm. It will get a choice between a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission.
The Toyota Glanza is likely to be offered in just two variants, both well-equipped and with the same all-black interior as the Baleno. The top-spec V variant that was spied earlier is based on Baleno’s Alpha variant while the lower variant is expected to be based on the Zeta variant of the Suzuki.
It is yet to be seen how Toyota will make a case for the Glanza over the donor car, but it is expected to get better service and warranty packages. The Glanza will be sold and serviced at Toyota outlets only. Expect it to be priced at a slight premium over the corresponding variants of the Baleno.
