Toyota Plant In Bidadi, Inauguration Postponed

Toyota, the Japanese car manufacturer has postponed its decision of the official inauguration of its new plant built in Bidadi, Bangalore. The decision has been taken due to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. This has to be the second manufacturing facility of the company in India. The company’s existence in Indian auto market is through a joint venture with the Kirloskar Group. This new plant is built with a total investment of Rs 3,200 crore and is specialized in manufacturing its the most in demand sedan, Toyota Etios. The car got its official launch in the month of December 2010 and its hatchback version, Toyota Etios Live will make the official entry in the month of April this year. The car will come powered by a 1.2 litre petrol engine.
As per the statement made by Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Managing Director Hiroshi Nakagawa, the company has postponed its decision of inaugurating this new manufacturing unit in Bidadi which was planned on March 15, 2011. the major reason behind the decision is the natural disaster which happened in the home country Japan. As per the Toyota Officials, the TKM employees who are working in Japan are absolutely safe the company has organized a task force to deal with the situation. Nakagawa has also stated that as per the recent reports, all the plants of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) are unaffected by this natural disaster and the company is assessing level of damage that has happened to the company’s dealer partners and supplier partners which are situated in different parts of the area. He also mentioned that they have got many messages to sympathize and help the people affected with this earthquake and tsunami. The company will soon announce the extended date of the inauguration of this new facility.
