Toyota to introduce imported Lexus cars in India

Based on the feedback of dealers and distributors, Toyota is going to import Lexus cars into India. However, the company is still not sure about timeframe to launch it in India.  TKM MD Hiroshi Nakagawa  told that in this way it was firm on its plan announced a year ago to import fully-built Lexus cars into the country. This move by Toyota which operates in India though a joint-venture company, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has been prompted by the 22% increase in luxury car sales in the domestic market for the year ended March 2009. It is to be mentioned here that there are many Lexus cars on Indian roads, but all of them are imported directly by individual consumers.
