Toyota uncovers Prius Hybrid at Auto Expo 2016

Toyota, the largest automaker, has showcased the new Prius hybrid car at the ongoing Delhi Auto Expo 2016. The new car is in its 4th generation, which was earlier revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015. The rigidity of the vehicle has been further strengthened by around 60 percent and all the credit goes to the new TNGA (Toyota New Generation Architecture) platform, on which the car is based.
The new Prius from Toyota is the first ever mass-produced hybrid model and has improved its fuel efficiency by 10 percent, offering 40 percent more thermal efficiency as compared to its older version. Outside, the car receives sharp design elements like LED headlamp with daytime running LEDs, enclosed in a boomerang shaped cluster, fog lamps and and long tail lamps. The new avatar is about 15 mm wider, 60 mm longer and 20 mm lower when juxtaposed with its previous generation model.
Coming to interiors and features, new Toyota Prius hybrid vehicle is laden with updated aspects such as a refreshed instrument cluster and large touchscreen infotainment unit. The car also has a three-spoke steering wheel which is multi-functional with white accents surrounding it. The car comes with amenties like front power seat (6-way Driver and 4-way co-passenger), seat heater and wireless charging. The vehicle also offers three driving modes Eco, Power, Normal.
Some of the safety features incorporated in the new hybrid model are Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane departure alert, Pre-collision system, automatic high beam and road sign assist. Other essential features include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, VSC+ Traction control and regenerative braking system.
Mechanically, the new hybrid car comes with petrol as well as electric motor. The 1.8-litre petrol can generate power of 97.8bhp and peak torque of 142Nm. The VVT-I unit includes redesigned intake ports for more air absorption and redesigned coolant to cool the mill more efficiently.
