Apart from a few launches, Citroen will also begin customer deliveries for the new C3 Aircross compact SUV in October
The last few months, particularly August and September 2023, saw many new cars enter our market including the Tata Nexon facelift, Honda Elevate and the Hyundai i20 facelift. Although almost all highly anticipated models this year have already been launched, there are still a few that will likely go on sale in the remainder of 2023. Here’s a look at the cars we expect to be launched in October 2023:
Nissan Magnite AMT
Expected Price- Rs 7.60 lakh
Since its launch in late-2020, the Nissan Magnite has been available with a sole automatic gearbox option, a CVT, with only the turbo-petrol powertrain, starting at Rs 10 lakh. Now, the carmaker will offer the SUV with a choice of a 5-speed AMT gearbox with its 1-litre naturally aspirated engine, as prevalent on its mechanical sibling, the Renault Kiger. No feature upgrades are expected with the introduction of the new transmission option. The Magnite comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen unit, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, auto AC, and cruise control. Its safety net consists of dual front airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Nissan Magnite Kuro Edition
Expected Price- Rs 8.10 lakh
The Nissan Magnite has been announced as the official car for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 tournament. On the sidelines of this announcement, the carmaker also introduced a special Kuro (which means ‘black’ in Japanese) edition of the sub-4m SUV and also opened its bookings. The special edition is likely to get a black treatment inside and out, while it might also come with some new features. We suspect Nissan could offer the Magnite Kuro edition with both the powertrain options, including the soon-to-be offered AMT gearbox.
Lexus LM
Expected Price- Rs 2 crore
Come October 2023, we are likely to get the second-generation Lexus LM MPV, which is based on the new Toyota Vellfire. Bookings opened for the luxury MPV towards the end of August 2023 and have reportedly crossed into triple digits, which is impressive for a luxury offering. It has a striking personality and a massive road presence, with the electronically sliding rear doors and the big spindle grille being the exterior highlights. Its cabin, which comes in 4-, 6- and 7-seat layouts globally, oozes opulence thanks to the wide reclining ottoman seats, a 23-speaker surround sound system, pillow-styled headrests and a humongous 48-inch TV mounted on the partition between the front and rear sections of the cabin. The India-spec MPV is expected to get a 2.5-litre strong-hybrid powertrain only.

5-door Force Gurkha
Expected Price- Rs 16 lakh
If there’s one Indian SUV that’s been a long-time coming, it’s the 5-door Force Gurkha. It has been spied on test multiple times, with latest sightings suggesting the possibility of a 3-row configuration. It will also likely get a revised lighting setup and bigger 18-inch alloy wheels than the 3-door Gurkha. The 5-door SUV is likely to be powered by the same 2.6-litre diesel engine (90PS/250Nm) as offered on its 3-door version, but could have a slightly higher engine output. It is expected to get the same 5-speed manual gearbox, and a four-wheel drivetrain as standard. Expected equipment consists of a 7-inch touchscreen, first and second-row power windows and manual AC. Force will likely offer it with dual airbags, a reversing camera, and rear parking sensors.
BYD Seal
Expected Price- Rs 60 lakh
This October could see the entry of yet another premium EV offering in the form of the BYD Seal. The carmaker showcased the electric sedan at Auto Expo 2023 and is now showcasing it on the BYD India website, suggesting its official debut soon. The details of the electric sedan’s battery pack are yet to be revealed but it could get the 82.5kWh battery pack offered in the international market. It could be paired with a dual motor setup with enough performance to do the 0-100kmph run in just 3.8 seconds. The BYD Seal will offer a claimed range of 700km and will go up against the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
Few Special Editions
With the festive season going on in full swing, various special edition models have already been launched as is the usual trend in the Indian automobile industry. That said, with some big festive occasions still on the horizon, we believe a few carmakers could take the opportunity to introduce new limited or special editions as well.
Citroen To Begin Delivering The C3 Aircross
The Citroen C3 Aircross is the newest member in the compact SUV space, with its prices starting at Rs 9.99 lakh (introductory ex-showroom Delhi). Its biggest USP as a compact SUV is the ability to seat both five and seven occupants (gets the option of a removable third row). The C3 Aircross is available with a single 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 6-speed MT only. Features on board the SUV include a 10.2-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, dual front airbags, and a reversing camera. Its bookings have been open from September 15 while the carmaker will begin delivering the SUV by mid-October.
These are all the new cars we are expecting to arrive this October. Which one are you looking forward to the most and why? Let us know in the comments.
