Three months down the line and the Indian auto has already witnessed number of new car launches in 2015. We saw the German luxury carmaker introducing its new CLA Class in country along with homegrown manufacturer Tata Motors launching Bolt. Hyundai too joined the race by introducing beefed up version i20 Active of successful Elite i20 along with launching facelifted version of Verna. The launch spree from different carmakers will continue with the same pace in coming months. Let’s dig deep to find more on the new car launches in month or two.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet on March 25, 2015
Mercedes India will launch the E-Class Cabriolet on March 25. The company, continuing to follow its strategy of 15 in 15 has recently launched B Class facelift and CLA Class along with the introduction of diesel engine in C Class. About the two door, four seater E-Class Cabriolet, it boasts an electric soft top which can be opened or closed at the speed under 40kmph. The cabriolet derives its power from the 3.0-litre, V6 petrol engine giving an output of 328bhp and peak torque of 480Nm. The engine transfers power to rear wheels with the help of 7G Tronic gearbox which enables the car to achieve 0 to 100 kmph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 250kmph.
Mercedes-Benz CLS Facelift on March 25, 2015
The three-pointed star company will launch the CLS Facelift simultaneously with E-Class Cabriolet. At first, CLS Class, the four door Coupe will only be available with diesel powertrain and will be sold in the country via CBU. CLS-Class now features redesigned single slat diamond stubbed grilled with Mercedes logo in centre, newly designed front bumper with air damps, Multibeam LED headlamps and a set of sporty multispoke alloy wheels. While under the hood, the new CLS will offer 2.1-litre V6 diesel engine which gives a healthy output of 204bhp and peak torque of 500Nm. The engine is mated to fuel efficient 9-speed automatic transmission.
Renault Lodgy- In April
Three year ago, Renault launched its compact SUV Duster which changed the company’s fate in country and helped the French automaker to settle in the price sensitive Indian auto-market. After tasting sweet success fruit with Duster, the Renault is now prepping up for an early launch of its upcoming Lodgy MPV. The media drives for the same recently took place in the IT city of Bengaluru. In first look, the MPV looks impressive and in order to cater the needs on large joint Indian families, it will be available as a 7/8 seater. The 7 seater gets captain seats in the middle while the 8 seater gets a bench. Under the hood, the MPV gets 85 PS and 110 PS engine options.
Tata Nano AMT- In Month or Two
Word on the street is that the Tata Motors is planning to launch the AMT Nano in a month or two. The affordable hatch has been spied several times during test runs in the country. The spied rear image of the car clearly depicts that the boot is now openable with a handle provided at the back along with a hole to insert key as well. It further clears the doubts of its being an AMT version as the badge F-Tronic and XTA on the image are evident. The AMT aka Automated Manual Transmission is the same set of gearbox working in Maruti Celerio and Alto K10 hatchbacks developed by Magnetti Marelli.
