Local hero Vishnu Prasad put in a stunning lap to claim the Pole Position for the 1st race of the 4th Round of Polo Cup India 2010, at the Irungattukottai Race Track, Chennai, covering the 3.717 km track with the best lap time of 2:09:430. Championship leader Sailesh Bolisetti will start from second position, with a difference of three-tenths of a second after Vishnu. Drivers Parth Ghorpade, Vikash Anand and Gokul Krishna complete the top 5. With a heavy rain shower minutes before qualifying all drivers experienced their first ever wet qualifying session.
This was the first time our young racers got a feel of the Chennai race track. Although the Chennai race track is the longest and most challenging in the series, the drivers clearly displayed some impressive skill on a drying track. The driver’s spirits weren’t dampened by the sudden downpour, as they went out on the track, eager to grab the coveted pole position.
Speaking about winning Pole Position, Chennai lad, Vishnu Prasad said that he managed to put in a good lap at the end which seemed to be fast enough. The rain definitely presented a challenge, but the qualifying session gave us the opportunity to get a feel for the track before the races tomorrow.
Sailesh Bolisetti, from Vizag, was second on the grid just three-tenths of a second away from the leader. Sailesh thanked the whole Volkswagen team for giving him a great car to drive.
