Volkswagen Ameo Compact Sedan Spied Undisguised

Following its christening yesterday, Volkswagen Ameo has now been spied completely undisguised. The spyshots have surfaced online, ahead of the car’s official world premiere, which was slated on 2nd of February and to be held at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. The Spyshots reveal clear details of the car’s rear, to a point where on can make out that this particular model is a TDI variant. Speaking of the rear, the car’s rear flaunts a brand new tailgate. The boot lid shares its design with the Rapid sedan, which is offered by Volkswagen’s Czech subsidiary, Skoda. One can clearly spot the converging lines on either side of the number plate and can reach a sound conclusion that it is a direct lift from those seen in the Skoda Rapid.

As deduced from the previous spyshots, the boot is comparatively chunkier, as it assists the car in falling under the sub-4 meter compact sedan tax bracket and eliminated the rumors of the car being a notchback. The rear-end also sports a spoiler-lip, which features prominent lines. The taillight cluster features a refreshed design, however the official teaser images previously revealed that the cluster’s embezzle will be shared with the Polo hatchback.

Also revealed in the pictures are the ‘TOSA’ alloy wheels, which are the same as those seen on Polo. As the model spied is a TDI, possibility dictates that it will incorporate the 4-cylinder 1.5-liter mill, which is available in two states of tune in Vento and Polo viz. 90PS and 105 PS variants. It is still unclear whether the same units will be offered in the upcoming compact sedan. The powerplants will be made available with both 5-speed manual and an option of 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. Volkswagen Ameo will rival the likes of Maruti Dzire, Tata Zest, Ford Aspire and Hyundai Xcent.
