Volkswagen has released the brochure of its to-be-launched sub-four metre sedan, the Ameo. Expected to hit the roads by July this year, the bookings for the same have already commenced. The car was unveiled just before the Indian Auto Expo 2016 and most of the details were out the same day.
It is offered in three standard variants -- Trendline, Comfortline and Highline -- just like the Polo and the Passat. To help those who are planning to buy the Ameo, we have done a variant-wise breakdown of the car. Have a look!
Trendline
The Trendline is the base model and will have the basic attributes required for daily use. We expect it to be priced below Rs 6.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and it is for someone who wants to own a sedan but does not care much about features. The non-availability of automatic DSG transmission might pinch the customer, though.
Here is the list of key features:
- Halogen headlamps
- Body-coloured bumpers and Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs)
- Windshield in heat-insulating glass
- Black interior theme
- ‘Climatronic’ automatic air-conditioning
- Lane change indicator
- Front power windows
- Speed-sensitive electronic power steering wheel, tilt and telescopic adjustable
- Single-folding rear seat backrest (first in segment)
- Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
- Dual front airbags
Comfortline
This is the second variant in line. Apart from offering DSG transmission, it takes care of most of your practical needs. You can connect your iPod/Bluetooth with the music system and can also enjoy some first-in-class features like cruise control and front/rear power windows with one-touch operation.
Some of the important attributes are:
- Dual-beam headlamps
- Dual-tone interior theme
- Cooled glove box
- Ambient lights with theatre dimming effect
- Cruise control (first in segment)
- Height-adjustable driver's seat
- Electrically-adjustable ORVMs
- Front and rear power windows with one-touch operation (first in segment)
- Opening and closing of windows with key remote (first in segment)
- Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) (for DSG transmission)
- Anti-pinch power windows (first in segment)
- CD/MP3 player with USB and iPod/Bluetooth connectivity
Highline
This is the top-end variant of the Ameo and comes with all guns blazing. The car is equipped with automatic rain-sensing wipers, unmatched in the segment. Touchscreen infotainment system and alloy wheels are other features that’ll make you love the car.
Here is a list of features:
- Touchscreen infotainment system
- Alloy wheels
- Chrome garnish on door handles and steering wheel
- Leather-wrapped gear knob and steering wheel
- Automatic rain-sensing wipers (first in segment)
- Speed-sensing auto door locks
- Reverse parking camera and sensors
- Rear AC vent
- Front fog lamps with static cornering lights
- Rear de-fogger
- Steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls
The good thing is that, apart from offering some first-in-class attributes, the carmaker, otherwise known for the robust build of its cars, has kept safety features like the ABS and dual front airbags as standard. While we keenly wait for the introductory Volkswagen Ameo price -- which is another key aspect -- do check our first-look video and tell us what you think about the car in the comments section!
