Volkswagen India received ISO 9001:2008 certification

Volkswagen's Pune plant has received ISO 9001:2008 certification thanks to its sublime quality management systems. From the Volkswagen's side Mr. Joerg Mueller who is Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India and Managing Director and Mr. Anil Rairikar who is Managing Director, TUV India Private Limited, Received the award. While briefing the gathering at company's Pune plant Mr Muller said that receiving ISO 9001:2008 certification is another milestone for Volkswagen's quality philosophy.
The process of establishing Volkswagen's Pune plant of the was started in year 2007 and company has fully build-up it in record time of 17 months. The ISO 9001:2008 certification Process was started in September 2008 and at that time the plant was not even in existence. This is the shortest time for a company to achieve this kind of certification.
The ISO 9001:2008 specifies the requirements for a quality management system according to which an organization has to show its ability to consistently fulfill applicable statutory and regulatory requirements along with consistent supply of products that meet customer. The ISO 9001:2008 certification demonstrates Volkswagen’s quality commitment to its customers who buying Volkswagen cars in India. The certification is an assurance of the quality of product as well as of processes followed in the plant, which shows that Volkswagen employees worked hard to maintain this sublime quality at the plant.
Such awards will also help Volkswagen to attract customers towards its upcoming models like Volkswagen Polo which is expected to be launched in India in the Month Of April this year. The award is also important at the time as worlds largest car manufacturer Toyota Motors is under fire because of quality and safety related issues in its car models like Toyota Prius. The certification will also provide an edge to Volkswagen's upcoming models in India like Volkswagen Polo over cars like Toyota Etios which will be launched by this year end.
