Volkswagen India rolls out the 50,000th car from its Chakan Plant

Volkswagen India proudly announced today that the company has achieved a milestone by manufacturing 50,000th car today from its manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune.Dr. Arno Antlitz Member of the Board of Management Volkswagen Brand and General Representative of Management Volkswagen Group and Dr. John Chacko, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India and President & Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private Limited were present on the occasion along with Mr. Holger Nestler, Executive Director, Technical, Volkswagen India Private Limited.
Within a time span of less than two years from the commencement of the production at the Volkswagen plant in Chakan,the company has been able to achieve this milestone of rolling out the 50,000 car. This clearly depicts the way company has been performing in the fastest growing auto industry in the world. At present the company produces only three models from the Chakan plant, these are Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Fabia. The 50,000 rolled out car from the plant was a Volkswagen Vento.
The Pune plant is one of the most modern in the Volkswagen Group which globally has 61 plants. The Pune plant includes all stages in the production process from press shop through body shop and paint shop to final assembly. The German company has made the biggest investment of Rs. 3,800 crores (580 million Euros), till date in developing the facility in Pune. With the investment coupled with the vertical integration of suppliers and the employment of people, Volkswagen India demonstrates its commitment to the new site.
