Recent developments in automobile world state that Volkswagen Passat, which was launched a few months back is already expecting an upgraded version before 2014. According to sources, news regarding next generation Volkswagen Passat has already started flowing on internet. Relevant sources suggest that the current model of Volkswagen Passat in India does not match with the standards which Volkswagen had in mind. Furthermore, the major changes were done only in body panels, material switch and cabin design.

According to reports, the upcoming model of Volkswagen Passat 2014 is going to come affixed with new kit architecture and will be the first car to adorn by it. It is worth mentioning that the existing model of B7 Volkswagen Passat is drawn on the PQ47 platform. However, the next generation i.e. 8th generation Volkswagen Passat is expected to based on the Volkswagen MQB (Modularer QuerBaukasten in German and Modular Transverse Matrix in English). So, Volkswagen Passat 2011 can be seen as final model using PQ47 platform.

Furthermore, the change in platform from PQ47 to MQB will be done in the complete fleet of Volkswagen cars including the next generation VW Polo and sedan cars like Skoda Laura, Audi A3 and the Seat Leon. Resources further suggested that the MQB kit affixed cars will enjoy the same engine, front axle and pedal box location. With main aim of increasing the flexibility like varying wheelbase, track and length, Volkswagen is trying hard to implement the transformation.
