Volkswagen Polo facelift launching tomorrow

Volkswagen India will be launching its facelift version of its premium hatch Polo tomorrow in the national capital New Delhi. The updated version is more than a cosmetic upgrade as it features an entire new diesel engine. The automaker has decided to replace the 1.6-litre TDI diesel with more fuel efficient 1.5-litre TDI turbo diesel motor. While the engine specification of petrol model remains same. However, the company will launch the performance variants GT TDI and GT TSI in the month of August.
The front profile of the facelifted version gets redesigned fog-lamps, front bumper with larger black air dam, single chrome lining at the bottom and blacked-out double barrel headlamps with silver accents. The rear also gets some tweaks in the form of new bumper with reflector and tweaked taillamps. The side profile remains unaltered and the car rides on 15-inch radials with a new set of silver alloys. Moreover, the spied test mule also suggests entry of a new orange shade.
The interiors are also upgraded as they feature new three spoke multifunction steering wheel with chrome surround with piano black inserts. The automatic climate control and leather wrapped steering wheels are retained in the top-end variants. The seats are also covered in the new premium upholstery.
Under the hood, the new Polo features 4-cylinder 1.5 liter TDI unit that churns maximum power output of 89bhp and peak torque of 230Nm. The diesel engine is mated to five speed manual gearbox. While the petrol model carries 1.2 liter MPI naturally aspirated engine that develops a power of 74bhp and max torque of 110Nm. The engine is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. The performance variant GT TSI which develops a power of 103.6bhp and 175Nm of max torque is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch DSG with tiptronic.
