Volkswagen Polo honoured at annual auto showcase

The German car manufacturer, Volkswagen received a great round of applaud for its Volkswagen Polo bagging top honour at The Business Standard Motoring awards 2011. the compact car from Volkswagen grabbed the top title of 'Business Standard Car of the Year award'.
The auspicious occasion was glorified with the jargon of automobile industry gathering in Mumbai. Chitrangada Singh, the famous actor from entertainment industry also showed up at the event. The award nominations and selection was done by an experienced jury comprising of past and present motorsport drivers, motoring experts along with the respectable Business Standard Motoring team.
The most intense competition was observed among the car launches of year 2010. A total of 10 aspirants were present in this category holding exceptional performance in market. The number of contenders made competition for top position tough and complicated for the jury.

Leaving all the potential contenders behind, Volkswagen Polo bagged the top title. The compact car made its official entry in the Indian market in the month of February 2010 and it passed off big names like BMW 5, Skoda Yeti, Chevrolet Beat, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Volkswagen Vento, Tata Aria, Nissan Micra, Toyota Etios and the Ford Figo.
Volkswagen Polo with a price tag of Rs 4.54 lakh marked the company's impact on the compact car segment which was largely dominated by the experienced player Maruti Suzuki.
The all exclusive Ford Figo was also counted among the winners by receiving Jury Special award for its voluminous sales. The trophy was received by Nigel Wark who is the executive director of marketing, sales & service in Ford India.

The SUV of the year award was taken away by Hyundai's most expensive model Hyundai Santa Fe. The award was received by the Director of Marketing & sales, Hyundai Motor India, Arvind Saxena.
The Premium Car of the Year award was taken away by the German luxury car manufacturer, BMW for it exclusive BMW 5 series. And to receive the award, Rodney Woods who is the Director of Finance, BMW India was present. On the other hand Porsche Cayenne grabbed the title of Premium Sports Utility Vehicle of the Year. The Performance Car of the Year award was given to Mercedes Benz SLS AMG.
The second graceful award was given to Volkswagen Motorsport for Motorsport Excellence award. The trophy was given to Prithviraj Siddappa the head of VW Motorsport. He is also a famous mototbike racer. The Automotive Pioneer of the Year award was taken away by Volvo Auto India fpr its Volvo XC60 SUV.
