Volkswagen Polo price to hike by 2.9 percent from Jan, 2011

Volkswagen Polo price will increase by 2.9 per cent from 1st January, 2011. In India, Volkswagen confirmed that, by 1st January, 2011, the price of the Volkswagen Polo will witness a hike of 2.9 per cent. Currently, the hatchback comes with in a price range of Rs 4,42,000 to Rs 6,82,500. Mr Neeraj Garg, member of Board & Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd, to justify the company's step of price hike,  said that, the company has been facing regular hike in its input cost such as raw materials and also production cost from a long time. The auto company also tried to curb the cost. But now, it seems difficult to absorb the price and also maintain quality. He further said that, these are the reasons which have forced the German auto company for the possible price hike. But there is relief for the buyers who will book the hatchback Volkswagen Polo by 31st December, 2010, as they will still be purchasing the car at the current price, said Mr Garg.

Volkswagen from a long time wished to capture the growing small car segment in India. By March 2010, the German auto giant launched the Volkswagen Polo. Currently, 17,000 cars are already rolling out as of November 2010, on the Indian shores. The hatchback is produced at the Volkswagen manufacturing unit in Chakan, in Pune. Volkswagen Polo is the German auto giant's first car model which is made locally.

In Europe,Volkswagen is the biggest auto manufacturer which sells wide range of car model from the Volkswagen Fox to the Volkswagen Phaeton in almost 150 countries across globe. In the Indian auto market, the auto majors offers Volkswagen Jetta and Volkswagen Passat which are assembled in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The company also holds the market grip with the bubble car Volkswagen Beetle, the stout SUV Volkswagen Touareg, and the premium Volkswagen Phaeton, the hatchback Volkswagen Polo and the sedan Volkswagen Vento. As per the reports, the Volkswagen has been witnessing an accelerating demand for its cars. Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Vento have huge order backlog and customers are waiting for 2 to 3 months for their cars. The hike in demand has forced the German auto giant to haste the production of its cars in the manufacturing unit in Maharashtra.
