Following the foot steps of Merc, Beamer and Toyota, Volkswagen has unveiled its 'GT Vision' series car- VW GTI Roadster Gran Turismo. And the good news is that you can actually witness the extraordinary design of Turismo even outside the gaming screen. The cars are to be featured in the upcoming racing game series Gran Turismo 6 which will certainly add a whole new level of adrenaline rush.
The words of Kazunori Yamauchi, (man behind the development of game Gran Turismo, which recently marked its 15th Anniversary) to the manufacturer across the globe started this. He said, “Would you be willing to design your rendition of Gran Turismo for us?” And the rest is in the front of us! Remember, that low stance silver Mercedes-Benz? Or the White BMW painted with Blue, Red and Navy Blue Strips. Yup those were also under the 'VT Vision'. Have a look below:
Volkswagen GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo concept is a 503 bhp churning roadster which debuted in annual Wörthersee festival. Company's chief designer Klaus Bischoff said, "When Sony asked us if we would develop a Vision GTI vehicle exclusively for the game to mark the 15th anniversary of Gran Turismo we didn't hesitate for a moment." He further added, "The Vision GT project offered a wonderful opportunity to sketch out extreme ideas and design elements of the GTI that are portrayed as vibrantly, dynamically and emotionally as possible"
The VW Roadster houses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V-6 engine that allows this sports concept to reach 0 to 100kmph in mere 3.5 seconds with a maximum speed of 308kmph. The engine churns out a maximum power of 503bhp and peak torque of 559Nm. The power from engine is transferred to all its four wheels via seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Moreover, the Wörthersee event was first started in 1982 as a meeting of enthusiast GTI owners, which was later officially supported by Volkswagen from the year 2006. Over the years, the event gathered much appreciation among the owners and other car lovers. The event which witnessed from few 100 participants to now 2,00,000 guests in recent years, is becoming a great platform to showcase upcoming vehicles and different technologies. Volkswagen call its latest concept as "the most spectacular Golf GTI ever.
