Volkswagen revealed the exterior sketches of the all-new 2015 VW Passat; the global launch of the vehicle is expected to be in falls of this year. Recently, VW India official said that they are keen to bring the new Passat as soon as possible, so there's enough room of possibilities that we get the new one this year only. In general, Passat will compete with rivals like Skoda Superb, Hyundai Sonata and Toyota Camry.

Speaking of the design, the sketches fairly reveal the overall profile of the car; the first thing you will notice in the design is the low sporty stance and coupe like roofline. The vehicle offers clean lines and conventional silhouette typical of VW's design but it still has got flavor of flare and sportiness. The front facade features a 'V' shaped layout which incorporates headlight and similar looking Volkswagen grille, slightly tweaked from both the ends. The bumper sports inverted U shaped metal add on similar to the one seen on the updated Polo along with rectangular fog lamps. The side profile looks premium with shark fin antenna, pronounced wheel arches and chromes window line. Contrarily, the rear looks aggressive with edgy wrap-around tail lamps and inverted trapezoidal exhaust mufflers.

The interior will receive radical changes although the German automaker did not reveal any interior sketches. If rumors are to be believed, the vehicle is likely to receive a 12.3 inch high definition instrumentation cluster (similar to the Nvidia Tegra 30 GPU powered in 2015 Audi TT) along with a touch screen infotainment system with host of connectivity features and App connectivity.

The focal point of the 2015 Passat, apart from its completely new exterior design is that it will be debuting the VW's new 2.0 liter diesel unit. The motor powers several cars in the VW umbrella from Audi's to Skoda's; all these cars will receive this engine once it will be launched with the upcoming VW Passat. The engine incorporates twin turbo-charging and gathers 240bhp of max power and 500Nm of peak torque. If you compare the current figures of 2.0 liter TDI the new BiTDI - bi-turbo motor is fairly impressive with nearly 80-90bhp up in power and a whooping 500Nm of torque! The car will be mated to a specifically developed 7-speed DSG (dual clutch) transmission. VW India sells Passat with only diesel powerplant but now the company might bring in a turbo charged TSI motor in the nex-gen. Details are still uncertain till its launch that is slated for year end. The car rides on modified Volkswagen MQB platform.
