Some interesting facts have surfaced which throw light on the authenticity of certain beliefs that the countrymen have associated with the Indian auto industry. According to these facts, Indians are surely not paying more for cars than their counterparts in other foreign countries. The Indian government is certainly not anti-motoring and Volkswagen is not charging any premium for its models. Reportedly, Malaysia is soon going to witness the launch of the most in-expensive sedan from the Volkswagen stable, the Volkswagen Polo sedan. In India, the Volkswagen Polo sedan has been badged as Vento. On Malaysian shores, the Polo sedan is priced at RM 99,888. The car will reach Malaysian car market as CBU (completely built units) which will be exported from the company’s plant in Chakan near Pune in India.
On account of Vento being imported as CBU its price in Malaysia has notched up crazily. In Indian currency RM 99,888 is nearly 16 lakh and this proves the fact that Indians do not always pay more than other countries. If the Polo sedan bags good response in Malaysia, the company would set in motion the CKD operation. For this amount in India, one can easily own the luxury sedan Volkswagen Jetta which is housed with a 2.0 liter four cylinder, in-line CR turbocharged diesel engine that is capable of driving a peak power of 140 PS at 4200 RPM. Affixed with a six-speed manual transmission this car is available with metallic color options like White Gold, Reflex Silver, Platinum Grey and Blue Graphite and other colors like Candy White, Black Uni and Salsa Red. Volkswagen Jetta is also rich on the safety end with eight airbags, ABS and ESP.
