Who would have thought that depreciating rupee will turn out to be lucky for car manufacturers. Instead of getting burried deep in troubles, the auto giants like Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai India, Toyota India and Nissan turned the situation around to have a positve outlook about the present condition.
2011 was probably the worst year for Maruti India to have confronted the situation with huge bravado. Now, almost done with the recuperating part the auto major is now strategising to gain back its market share in India and abroad. Unwiling to cry over the spilt milk, Maruti Suzuki India is now focused on what's next on cards which has ample lot of new car launches including the new Maruti Swift Dzire CS and Maruti Ertiga MPV. But, instead of having a narrow approach, the auto major is bound to have a broader outlook depending largely on the exports of the upcoming Swift Dzire and new Maruti MPV to the other nations. Maruti Suzuki India hopes to adopt a new trend of CKD exports for the first time with the two new Maruti cars though the exports are not new for the domestic car manufacturer by any means. Shashank Srivastava, Maruti India Chief proudly states to have booked out until March with already 4,500 bookings in hand from Maruti Suzuki dealers abroad with its best-selling models like Maruti Alto, Maruti Estillo, new Maruti A-Star and Maruti Wagon R.
The car exports have picked up especialy during the last year with the fluctualting rupee value turning out to be a huge bonus for car manufacturers in India. The increased exports is the only way to balance out the sluggish car sales in India and who other than the country's largest exporter, Hyundai India knows it better. Right from the recently launched Hyundai Eon to Hyundai Accent sedan to its flagship hatchbacks, Hyundai i10 and Hyundai Santro, the car manufacturer simply thrives on exports.
Car manufacturers are bound to explore the dephts of innovativeness. Toyota India, who might have never imagined to carry out its exports based out of India, all it dreams of now is the Toyota Etios sedan and Toyota Liva exports.
While car exports is marking a new beginning for few car manufacturer, Nissan India seems to be veteran in this field already whose export business from India started long time back when Nissan Micra failed to gain traction in India with Nissan Sunny exports next on cards. Overall the Indian car industry has recorded a 16% rise in exports in 2011 at 501,794 units.
