Okay! So there are a lot of new car launches, concepts and showcases coming home in the upcoming Indian Auto Expo, and we are eagerly waiting from them. Manufacturers like Maruti, Audi, Jeep and many others have revealed what they are planning to bring in, at least to some extent. Our beloved manufacturer from France, Renault is so far expected to showcase the Renault KWID AMT and the 1.0-litre version of same. While Duster facelift might also show up and we are excited about it. To know what’s more in the box, let’s dig.
Two years back, at Auto Expo 2014, Renault showcased the KWID concept, Duster Adventure version, Megane, Scala and Pulse (do pardon me if I have missed anything). The last two products are washed out with sloppy sales and the manufacturer might soon discontinue them. Well, for the other three? Duster’s sales have dropped drastically, which was then a segment champ. Kwid concept has been scaled down to Kwid and we have happily welcomed it with open arms. Moreover, Kwid has taken its segment by storm and is doing great as far as its elements are concerned. For Megane, it has not even made it to India yet.
It’s the need of hour for Renault to step up its game and make some aggressive moves to keep the Indian market pleased. Now the time requires Renault to take aggressive and quick steps to keep its Indian hopes high. I would say that bringing the 1.0 Kwid or the Duster facelift is not the answer. So, to tease us, the enthusiasts and several others who praise Renault so, if it could just showcase Clio or even Megane. Who knows, if they are about to shock us by introducing the former towards the end of the year, if I am not expecting much.
To top it up, I would like to add that Renault knows how to price its product perfectly, the biggest examples are Kwid and Duster (at the time of its launch). They have done it before and I am sure they can do it again, like produce Clio and Megane here, price it handsomely and make things work again the Renault-way. Fingers crossed. Period.
