The deadline has been extended as many states are still under partial lockdown.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has extended the deadline for the renewal of motor vehicle documents to September 30, 2021. The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic is the reason why the validity period has been stretched for the fifth time now. The previous cut-off date was June 30 this year.
This notification applies to all car-related documents, including vehicle registration, fitness certificates, permits, and driving license that expired on February 1, 2020 or would have by September 30, 2021.
Earlier, MoRTH had issued advisories in 2020 (on March 30, June 9, August 24, and December 27) and 2021 (on March 30, and June 30) regarding the extension of the renewal date.
