City 2015-2017 i VTEC E Review

Exteriors :

As said above, the new Honda City has undergone a complete changeover including the exterior design and style. The manufacturer has blessed this latest sedan with an ACE body structure that not only brought it an aerodynamic structure, but it also added to the protection of the passenger cabin. To begin with, the all new Honda City sedan's front radiator grille has been revamped and now it is fitted with a thick chrome plated strip along with the company logo inherited in the center. This grille is surrounded by the sleekly designed headlight cluster that comes incorporated with halogen lamps along with turn indicator. One of the striking aspects about the front profile is the sporty new bumper that adds to the distinct new look of this sedan. The side profile of this sedan is also improved with trendy new design that makes it look very sleek. The wheel arches of this sedan are fitted with a set of trendy 15-inch steel wheels equipped with full wheel covers. The exterior mirror caps along with the door handles have been painted with body color while the window sills have been garnished in gloss black that brings a contemporary look to the sides. The rear end of this sedan gets a stunning new taillight cluster with LED lighting setup and it surrounds the chrome plated strip fitted on the boot lid. The overall look of this fourth generation sedan is something that is quite magnificent that will certainly steal the attention of auto enthusiasts.

Interiors :

The insides of this Honda City i VTEC E entry level trim is quite luxurious with great fit and finish, thanks to the good quality plastic and materials used by the company. The company has revamped the design of the dashboard and brought a “layered floating cockpit” sort of style with a two tone color scheme. The cabin space is slightly large as the wheelbase has increased by 50mm, which gives more legroom. There is a three spoke steering wheel incorporated to the dashboard and it is accentuated with silver inserts. The company has installed a number of features and functions inside the cabin such as a manually operated air conditioning system, a stylish instrument cluster, cup holders, bottle holders, storage unit, front power outlet and number of other necessary functions.

Engine and Performance:

This petrol model series are equipped with an advanced 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, i-VTEC petrol power plant that has a total displacement capacity of 1497cc . The company retained the same SOHC based engine without any changes to its technicalities. This engine can produce a maximum power output of about 117.3bhp at 6600rpm, while yielding a peak torque output of about 145Nm at 4600rpm . This high performance engine has been coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox that distributes the torque output to the front wheels and enables the vehicle to deliver 17.8 Kmpl of peak mileage.

Braking and Handling:

The fourth generation Honda City is blessed with a highly efficient braking system with its front wheels fitted with disc brakes, while the rear ones get a set of proficient drum brakes. This disc and drum braking combination delivers a reliable performance on any road conditions. On the other hand, its superior suspension mechanism adds to the stability of the vehicle. The company assembled the front axle with McPherson Strut type of suspension , while its rear axle fitted with Torsion Beam type of mechanism. The company reinforced this suspension mechanism by integrating the coil springs on front and rear axles. On the other hand, its electric power assisted steering system with tilt function reduces the efforts of driver and makes it simple to handle the vehicle.

Comfort Features:

The Honda City i VTEC E is the entry level petrol variant, but still it is being offered with fair amount of features that fulfills the basic needs of passengers. The company is offering this particular variant with features including a manually operated AC unit , all four power windows with one touch operation, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, electric power steering, cup holders, bottle holders, power outlets, interior day/night rear view mirror, ECO lamp and many more features.

Safety Features:

The latest Honda City i VTEC E trim blessed with advanced safety aspects that ensures enhanced protection to the passengers inside. This sedan is being built on an advanced “ACE” body structure, a design platform that diverts the energy away from the passenger compartment when collision occurs. The company is also offering this particular trim with Driver SRS airbag as standard in this base variant unlike any other sedan in its class. The list of other safety features include ABS with EBD , an engine immobilizer system, driver seatbelt reminder, day/night mirror, key off reminder, dual horn and pinch guard safety windows with driver side one touch operation.

Pros : Very competitive price tag, top rated safety aspects, impressive mileage.

Cons : Comfort features need to improve, interior design could be much better.

HONDA CITY : Best to drive in any CITY, Perfect handling.
After driving it for 5 years, I can proudly say that Honda CITY deserves to be at the top in the SEDAN segment with the price range it offers. Weather you want to drive it like a sports car on the highway or like a convenient vehicle in the city having a lot of traffic. Well, let me take you through its best parts and very few disappointed ones. So, here we go..... Best parts :: 1. Interior design and parts - The interior is dual toned, makes it look luxurious, The dashboard is big and classic, All the necessary details are there in front of you. You get music mode, volume, channels change buttons on handle also, makes it convenient. It beeps if seat belts are not used. There are enough small storages, specific for cups/glasses, elbow rest as well. On the driver door, you get buttons to slide up/down for every window, buttons to control mirrors, and yes central locking system as well. So, you see, these things are handy. Wait there's more..2. Exteriors : From outside, It gives a hard and a beast look, from front to rear, sideways. This car having a sleek design from front helps to cut air resistance and helps to accelerate at more pace. The build quality is rock solid, although the paint doesn't seem to be same as that. Parking it under the direct hot sun light, may affect it's shade. Well, it did for me. But I've been parking it out almost everyday. 3. Comfort & Space - Much more comfortable, than you can expect in this price range, in terms of seats, the range of sliding the seats from front to rear Or let it be inclining it at almost from 80 degrees to 145 degrees, Well, that's a lot to allow any sitting postures and leg room for the driver as well as others. The quality of the seat covers are actually very good, I still didn't need to change them. 4. Handling - This is the best part of it that i love the most, Handling is so smooth and superb, Power steering helps a lot. Trust me, I've driven it on 170-175 Km/H on NH1 highway with a lots of luggage, It didn't even vibrated a little. 5. AC & Sound System - Never had to think about changing the sound system, It came with enough BASS and TREBLE. AC system is powerful, cools down the car with in minutes.6. Engine and Mileage - HONDA is known for its powerful engines, Engine is efficient, being a petrol engine, doesn't require much maintenance, Mileage is around 12-14 in city, 18 on highway. Gives best when driven in around 80-100 on highways. With so much pros, here comes few cons as well : 1. Suspension and Shockers : I think, the life of suspension and shockers is not that much which i expected, had to change within 3 years.2. Ground level : I had changes Tyres, with 17" alloys, that made it's ground level very low, have to be careful when driving over the high speed breakers.Well, that's it for the cons, I really had to think hard to get them, these are the ones that i accept. Never the less, this car is trust worthy and never had to face any issues related to engines or anything except punctures, hehe. I highly recommend this car to my mates, Recommending here too, Give it a test drive. But trust me, after driving this car, I didn't love the handling of any other car than the City one. So, welcome the CITY to your home. Hope my review helps. Regards, Varun.

Honda City: A Perfect Family Car
A few years ago, if you were in the market for an efficient family sedan, an automatic variant would most likely not make it to your wish list. Because ATs back then were considered too expensive to buy and maintain and were known to drain the fuel tank faster than a manual car. Plus, they weren't too involving to drive and were lethargic when it came to outright performance.   But increasingly wretched traffic and the urge to opt for an easy-to-drive sedan have been bringing buyers back into showrooms looking for a comfortable automatic sedan. And it's not just the premium segments the C-segment to has started offering a variety of options. One of them being the new Honda City i-VTEC automatic.   Torchbearer of automatic sedans in India, and now in its fourth generation, the City is available with a newly developed CVT that is part of Honda's Earth Dreams Technology. Honda claims its new CVT is more responsive and fuel efficient than the previous-gen CVT or the 5-speed AT. In fact, the official word is that it's more efficient than even the manual variant, which returns 17.8kpl, compared to the CVT's 17.9kpl.   Honda's new City CVT now gets a torque converter along with the usual pulleys-and-belts business. It replaces the old dual-clutch box, which was marred by sluggish acceleration and felt too strained up the rev band. And via various other advancements, Honda has made the new CVT lighter by 10 per cent.   So, does this change the way the new City drives? It sure does. Powered by an updated 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol motor churning out 117bhp and 145Nm, the City AT takes off in a rather surprising manner. The initial hesitation and jerkiness of a typical dual-clutch CVT has been sorted with the use of a torque converter, which results in prompt acceleration from the word go.   Driving in urban conditions is convenient and the City AT responds well to part throttle inputs as well. Even on open stretches of tarmac, where you feel the urge to charge down the straight line, the new transmission takes good care of your need for speed.   However, it's only when you need sudden acceleration, say, when you need to slot yourself into a fast-filling gap the CVT disappoints, to an extent. A shove of the throttle pedal quickly propels the rpm needle to its 6,700 redline, but then the engine gets loud ? No, make that really loud, without any corresponding increase in speed. Apart from Drive mode, you also get Sport and paddle shifters that should make life easier in tricky situations. That said, overtaking, or sudden bursts of power, don?t come easy and you do need to plan your moves in advance.   The rest of the car remains identical to its manual counterpart. As a package, the new City i-VTEC CVT is a good improvement over the earlier model. It comes with Honda's reliability and strong after-sales, and the CVT promises to be efficient this time around. It scores well on the ride and handling too. If there was one quibble to report, that would be top-end performance. If you can live with that, the new City CVT will prove to be a great choice for both, urban and highway use.   The numbers 4cyl, 1,497cc, petrol, 117bhp, 145Nm, CVT, FWD, 1,085kg, 17.9kpl (claimed), boot space: 510 litres, fuel tank: 40 litres, Rs 9.49 - 10.98 lakh (ex-Delhi)   The verdict The new CVT box is definitely smoother and quicker than before. It's easy to live with, and efficient too (says, Honda).

    Reliable Car
Honda city is one of the best and reliable car on the Indian roads. Smooth drive, Good after-sales support, good looks and excellent resale value is one of the main points because of which the Indian customers are inclined towards it. Best in class comfort and some new features are just icing on the cake now and if you ask its owners they are more satisfied with the performance and value they get from this car than anything else in this segment as this segment is one of the most competitive segments in automobile industry Honda clearly knows what it needs to be the market leaders from past experiences I can say that Honda is learning well as of now this car is leader in the market in this segment not in numbers but with the loyal customer base it has. Some of the features like paddle shift are the big plus in Honda city which you will not find in cars even above its price range, the interior is also very calm and satisfying I would say it somehow compliments the exterior and character to the car. As we are approaching towards 2017 the facelift of the honda city is also on cards which is going to heat up this segment more.

    Honda City Review
Hi all, I am proud of owner of Honda City which has been with me for 2 years now. I must say it is a reliable car and it still feels new. The car is daily travelling to Gurgaon/Noida from Delhi. In this car, you don't get tired after long hours of driving which I really like it due to the comfort it provides to the driver as well apart from the rear passengers In terms of average, it is giving me an average of 15 - 16 kmpl which is good being a petrol sedan and also the service cost is reasonable like for every 10,000 km it is between 4,000 - 5,000 km. The plus point which I like in this car is the for rear passengers it has got separate AC vents which is a very good feature in the segment and also the Sunroof makes the car cabin feel more airy and big. One of the bad points which I noticed in the car is that the boot from inside has no covering which means that you can see the wires of tail lights and all and it doesn't look good in this class of car. So finally if you want a good city and highway driving car this is the car to go for which has lot of generations of this model backing it up.

    Elegant Luxury Powerful Economical
If you take a little stroll in the past, Honda City is the only one car which has served as an icon of luxury and comfort for the Indian middle-class families. People have looked up to the car and aspired to have it in their garage. Till today, 4 generations of the car have been launched. All of them have outperformed their predecessors. Other cars are in and out but City has managed to retain its charm. We will talk about the looks first. Well, once the third generation Verna was a clear winner and the 3rd generation City looked plane in front of it. However, with the fourth generation coming in, the City with its new design struck hard on Verna so that even with the Verna 4S, Hyundai couldn't regain the spot. The Volkswagen Vento has had comparatively subdued and dull looks and it never gave competition to the City on the front; fair enough as Volkswagen never quoted style for the Vento. The SX4 was not a great looking car either, it was crying out for an upgrade. Maruti Suzuki eventually did come up with the Ciaz, which carried no characteristics from the SX4, Well, So, the 4th generation City is one of the best looking car in the segment, probably the best, however I will not take a hard-line approach as I believe that choice of design differs from individual to individual. But I am confident that it won't be easy for anyone to reject the City on the basis of its looks. Next is what these cars offer on the inside. The City certainly has a lot to offer. It comes along with a lot of features. After investing 8-15 lakhs, the customer is served with features like steering mounted controls, automatic climate control, dual airbags, ABS, touch screen infotainment system, cruise control, electronic sunroof among others. So what makes the City stand apart? Well, its the quality and space! The leg room provided for the rear passengers, the front view which the large windshield provides to the driver and front passenger, that is something which its opponents fail to provide. The Hyundai Verna comes close but the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz losses on the quality of interiors and the Volkswagen Vento still looks a little obsolete and crammed up. In the diesel segment, I would agree that the Vento is more stable at higher speeds and gives you more confidence The Verna's diesel motor gives you more punch compared to City as it has the 1.6L engine squeezing out an additional 100cc.   Honda had lost market share when the dieselization of the Indian Car market was under way. Honda took its own time, worked on a diesel motor and brought it in the market with the Amaze. The motor has improved over time with all the refinements; however there have been complaints of engine?s noise and vibrations creeping into the cabin space. However the moost important part is the fuel economy and city has delivered some amazing and hard to believe figures! The diesel variant has given me a fuel economy as high as 30kmpl on highways! Hard to believe but true!   Moving into City?s Petrol engine I can assure you that nothing comes even close. City?s 1.5 litre i-VTEC engine has been in the market for many years and with every update it has improved. The combination of the 1.5 litre motor and the 6 speed manual gearbox makes both, the city and highway drive easy . The option of the CVT is just an added advantage for the people looking for an AT variant.
