Tata has done it again with the offering of Tata Sumo Grande. Tata Motors with years of experience in hand with a strong consumer base in India, Tata sumo was quiet a hit in early nineties when first launched. The car hit the right chords and began a favourite passenger vehicle and was also the car of choice for great Indian joint families. With its massive size and practical economy in tow, car became a household name. Tata Motors have revamped the much changed look of the car from its first look and today the Sumo as the name defines it perfectly is a gigantic yet lovable multi utility vehicle. With major exterior cosmetic changes the car has become all the aggressive and in the face look is all the more pronounced. More of the work has been done to make the car more technologically advanced and car has lost all the soft lines in interiors as well as exteriors. The company is looking forward to revive the good old times and bring in the volume sales for Sumo Grande for which the car has undergone a complete makeover. With a perfect price tag and all the frills at the right place, car is a perfect combination of safety, comfort and style with economy on the go. This time this hulk of a machine commands attention when it rolls on road. The car is not only muscle and brawn but also has a style quotient added to the platter to make it all the more palatable. The car as always goes easy in the hand of a skilled driver as well as an amateur. Tata Sumo Grande MKII EX is the diesel variant of the car. The car has a length of 4421mm and a width of 1780mm and stands tall at an impressive height of 1940mm. The car has a ground clearance of 180 mm which makes it a perfect off road, rough terrain MUV. The new changes done to the designing of the car are eye catching and the high seating makes one a proud owner.
Exterior
The car has an aggressive styling and the bonnet and the headlights are at height. With a boxy bonnet with straight lines which flow symmetrical from front to back complete the overall look of the car. The bulging front with high headlights are aggressive. The car looks powerful in the first look. The car has lots chrome added at the front as well as the back. There Is a lot of chrome on the side rub rails which blends in well with the 16 inch alloy wheels which give a slight understated touch of sophistication to the car. Rear of the car is better than the front and not much has changed but the spare tyre has been placed below instead of the rear door to give it an uncluttered look.
Interiors
The car has very thoughtful and practical interior. The dual toned black and beige interiors are well matched. Seats are comfortable and the fabric used in interiors is of good quality. The faux wood panel looks chic and adds a feel of luxury to the interior of the car. the car also has alpine CD player mounted in the centre. Inner door handles have a touch of silver finish which further enhances the feel of the cabin. The door panel has faux wood added to it too. The seats have armrests in front and rear and the cabin has a feel of gentle luxury to it with subtle style add ons. The plastic used for the dashboard doesn’t look out of the place and goes very well with the overall look of the inside of the car.

The car has 16 V DOHC DICOR which is 2.2 liter, 118.4bhp engine with a displacement of 2179cc with 4 cylinders . The engine is a power machine which churns out a maximum power of 118.4bhp at 4000rpm and maximum torque of 250Nm at 1500-3000 rpm. Tata Sumo Grande MK II EX gives an easy 10.27kmpl in the heavy traffic infested city roads and a nice 13.55kmpl on the highway. The car crosses the mark of 100 kmph from o kmph in mere 17.6 seconds .
Breaking and handling
Tata Sumo Grande MK II EX is built for off road terrain. The brakes are customary ventilated discs in front and standard drum brakes for the rear . The car has independent wishbone suspension with coil springs in front and parabolic leaf springs fitted in the rear. The car turns easily on the curvy roads and edgy terrain.

Very perfectly priced the car has all the features which are customary and with all the technology taken care of at right places, the car is a perfect solution to off road long journeys.

The car needs to have the ABS and features like brake assist which will make it all the more versatile on the edgy terrain.
