Vento 2013-2015 1.2 TSI Comfortline AT Review
Volkswagen Vento is one of the stylish sedans available in the auto market. This sedan has now received quite a few updates in terms of its looks and technical specifications as well. This sedan is now available with a choice of both automatic and manual transmission options. It is introduced in three trim levels among which, Volkswagen Vento 1.2 TSI Comfortline AT is the mid range petrol variant. This trim is now powered by a 1197cc petrol mill, which is coupled with an advanced 7-speed DSG automatic transmission gearbox. There are several changes made to the interiors by redesigning the steering wheel with flat-bottomed structure. This sedan is now bestowed with a space-max technology, which will allow the rear occupants to adjust the front passenger's seat to improve the leg room. Furthermore, it also has rear knee level rear AC vents, which circulates chilled air to all corners of the cabin. In terms of exteriors, this sedan gets a new dual beam headlamps with black finish. It also gets a slightly tweaked external wing mirrors and door handles, which are painted in body color. In addition to all these, this trim is now integrated with a refined music system featuring a CD player, USB port, AUX-In socket and SD card slot as well.
Exteriors:
The external appearance looks mostly identical to its earlier version. However, its revised headlight cluster, ORVMs and door handles gives it a fresh new appeal. Its front facade has a sleek radiator grille with horizontally positioned strips. Surrounding this is the revised headlight cluster, which has a dual barrel design with black finish . The front body colored bumper has a small air intake section along with a pair of fog lamps. The overall look of its frontage is complimented by the stylish company's badge embedded on its grille. The side profile gets a minor tweak in the form of revised ORVM caps and door handles. While the wheel arches are fitted with 15-inch steel wheels that have full wheel covers. These are further covered with a set of tubeless radial tyres of size 185/60 R15. Its window frames and B pillars are treated in high-gloss black, which further adds to its elegance. The rear profile too received revised taillight cluster with more powerful brake lights and turn indicators. However, all other aspects like tailgate, windscreen and bumper have been retained. This sedan is available in six exterior paint options including Terra Beige, Night Blue, Reflex Silver, Deep Black Pearl, Candy White and Toffee Brown.
Interiors:
This Volkswagen Vento 1.2 TSI Comfortline AT trim has ample cabin space that provides a comfortable traveling experience. Its interiors are done up with an attractive dual tone color scheme, which is further amplified by ambient lighting scheme. The seats are quite comfortable and offers better support to the occupants from their neck to the thighs. Its front co-passenger seat can be adjusted from behind with a push of a lever, thanks to its Space-max technology. All seats have integrated head rests and are covered with superior 'Livon' fabric upholstery. Its interiors are made up with high quality scratch resistance material, which gives an upmarket look to the cabin. This trim also gets a flat-bottomed steering wheel, which is decorated with high gloss black inserts and embedded with a company's insignia. The instrument panel has two large round shaped meters and a multifunctional screen. It displays vehicle's speed, fuel efficiency, distance till empty, clock, service interval and outside temperature. There are a number of utility features incorporated inside like an ashtray, 12V power outlet, sunglass holder in glove box and dual front sun visors.
Engine and Performance:
This variant is equipped with an advanced 1.2-litre, TSI petrol engine that has a direct fuel injection technology. This in-line motor has 4-cylinders, 16-valves and displaces 1197cc. It is also incorporated with a turbocharger, which enables the motor to pump out a maximum power of 103.56bhp at 5000rpm and yields 175Nm of commanding torque output between just 1500 to 4100rpm. This engine is is skilfully paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox that distributes the torque output to the front wheels. The manufacturer claims that the vehicle can produce a mileage of 16.93 Kmpl, which is rather good.
Braking and Handling:
This sedan is bestowed with a proficient braking system in the form of front disc and rear drum brakes . It is also integrated with an anti-lock braking system that collaborates with electronic brake force distribution system to keep the vehicle stable. Its front axle is fitted with a McPherson strut loaded with stabilizer bar, while the rear axle is paired with a semi-independent trailing arm suspension system. This sedan is also integrated with an electronic power assisted steering system that minimizes the efforts required by the driver by providing excellent response.
Comfort Features:
The Volkswagen Vento 1.2 TSI Comfortline AT is the mid range variant and yet it is offered with some important comfort features. Its dashboard is equipped with a proficient air conditioning system featuring dust and pollen filter along with rear AC vents. This trim also has functional features like driver seat height adjuster, steering wheel with tilt and telescopic adjustment, front and rear power windows, electric trunk opening, vanity mirror in left side sun blind, rear defogger, front intermittent wiper with 4-step variable speed setting and lane change indicator. Apart from all these, it is also equipped with rear parking sensors central locking system, opening and closing of windows with remote key and a multi-functional display. This trim is also equipped with a CD player featuring MP3 decoder along with connectivity ports for SD card, USB and AUX-In devices.
Safety Features:
It is incorporated with several sophisticated aspects like height adjustable headrest, fog lights, front disc brakes, 3-point front seat belt, high mounted third brake light, day and night internal rear view mirror and an electronic engine immobilizer system with floating code. Furthermore, it also has anti lock braking system, airbags for front passengers, electronic stability program and hill hold assist function.
