Volkswagen has confirmed that a sportier-looking R-Line variant of the Tiguan will be launched in India in 2025. The new variant is expected to not have any mechanical changes but will feature a lot of design changes for a sportier appeal.

Furthermore, it is equipped with an 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory functions and heated front seats. The Tiguan also comes with a panoramic sunroof, an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror (IRVM), automatic headlights and wipers and 30-colour ambient lighting.

The Volkswagen Tiguan comes with a single engine option:

• 2-litre turbo-petrol engine: It produces 190 PS and 320 Nm and is mated with a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic transmission). It also gets an all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain setup as a standard option.

Volkswagen has claimed that the Tiguan returns a mileage of 12.65 kmpl.

The current-spec Volkswagen Tiguan is yet to be tested by either Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP, hence its safety rating is unknown. However, it was crash-tested by Euro NCAP back in 2016, where it scored a full 5-star safety rating. 

In terms of features, the Tiguan comes with 6 airbags, a hill start assist and hill descent control, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability control and a rear parking camera with front and rear sensors. It also gets front and rear fog lamps, disc brakes on all wheels and an electronic parking brake with auto hold function.

That said, the German carmaker is offering a complimentary roadside repair service and 24x7 roadside assistance during the standard warranty period.

Volkswagen is providing three free services with the Tiguan, the details of which are as follows: 

• 1st service: 1,000 km / 1 month (whichever is earlier)

• 2nd service: 7,500 km / 6 months (whichever is earlier)

• 3rd service: 15,000 km / 1 year (whichever is earlier)
