Adding yet another feather to its well-adorned cap, the all-new Hyundai i20 has walked away with the top honour at the Indian Car of the Year 2021
The third-gen Hyundai i20 has bagged the prestigious title of the ‘Indian Car of the Year 2021’ (ICOTY 2021). Hyundai i20 won the award by fiercely beating its rivals with an aggregate score of 104 points. The vehicles in second and third place got 91 and 78 respectively.
Ever since its launch in the Indian market in November last year, the new i20 has been consistently ranked among the best selling models in the country. The car is based on Hyundai's Sensuous Sportiness design language and boasts of many first-in-class and best-in-class features.
The exteriors of the new i20 are striking. The prominent LED projector headlamps, Parametric jewel pattern grille, front projector fog lamps, and Z-shaped LED tail lamps are the defining characteristics of this truly premium hatchback. Further adding a robust dose of design sophistication are features such as the electric sunroof, shark fin antenna, and R16 diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Hyundai has equipped the new i20 with several first-in-class features such as a tyre pressure monitoring system (highline) with a display on the MID, Oxyboost air purifier with air quality indicator, OTA map updates, eco coating, emergency stop signal, hill assist control (HAC), and multiple-device Bluetooth connectivity. In addition, the all-new i20 also enjoys the distinction of having many best-in-class features, including six airbags, a 26.03 cm HD touchscreen infotainment and navigation system, a wireless charger with a cooling pad, a digital cluster with TFT multi-information display (MID), a front sliding armrest, and a Bose premium 7-speaker system.
For a seamless connected experience, the BlueLink technology in i20 offers more than 50 features.
The new i20 comes with multiple engine and transmission options so buyers can choose the variant that best fits their needs. The petrol variants get two engine options: 1.0-litre Turbo GDi with best-in-class 120PS, mated to a 7-speed DCT and first-in-class iMT, and a 1.2-litre Kappa unit with an output of 83PS with 5-speed MT and 88PS with IVT automatic. The 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine, on the other hand, comes mated to a 6-speed MT and produces a best-in-class motive force of 100PS. Hyundai also offers the best-in-class warranty (up to 5 years) and the lowest maintenance cost for complete peace of mind.
By winning the ICOTY for the second time (first in 2015), the Hyundai i20 has accomplished a rare feat in the Indian automotive industry.
Available in four variants with prices ranging from Rs 6.80 lakh to Rs 11.33 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the all-new i20 embodies the grit, commitment, and customer-first philosophy of Hyundai that has made the company a favourite among Indian customers.
