2012 Indian Auto Expo is closely approaching with numerous launches and car makers are holding their breath with the hope to thrive in the car industry in the year to come. As many as 55 new cars are on the platter at the upcoming auto Expo, a positive shift from the 50 cars launched last year at the same event. There were about 42 auto giants who participated last year. The number has now reached to a whopping 50, least influenced by the current car industry slowdown. The French car manufacturer, Renault is going to take a plunge in the hatchback segment with the launch of Renault Pulse to the mark the beginning of the Renault-Nissan partnership.
A new SUV from Renault, is also among the cars line-up, but in the later part of the year. On the other hand, Renault’s partner Nissan is going to offer a new MPV individually. A 10-seater minivan based on the European Nissan NV 200 is next on the cards from Nissan. Peugeot Citroen, another French car manufacturer will make a debut in the country with Peugeot 508 sedan with other models slated for launch during the rest of the year. Country’s leading car manufacturer, Maruti India has a car slated for launch in almost every segment of the car industry. A latest version of Maruti 800, a brand new class-apart SUV Maruti Ertiga and the compact Maruti Swift Dzire launches are just around the corner to ensure that they are still on the top of the segment.
Tata Motors is also reported to launch a new product at the Expo, but not the Tata Nano diesel as one would hope. Indian car industry is going to witness the rise of the hybrid car reign in India next year. General Motors, Tata motors, Maruti Suzuki and Renault will be leading in the hybrid car launches setting new horizons challenging many others to join the bandwagon soon. The super car segment is also likely to be redefined with the global champions like Ferrari, Buggati, Porsche, Maserati, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce taking part at the show targeting India as one of the key markets for growth in the world. Among the top global car manufacturers participating in the event, the absence of Fiat among the others is definitely going to be felt at the prestigious show.
