The recent floods have made a devastating effect on the Thailand manufacturing unit of Honda Motors. The severe shortage of components has delayed the upcoming Honda cars launch including Honda City Facelift and the new Honda Civic. However, according to the recent information the 2012 Honda CR-V launch will take place without any change in the schedule sometime during mid-2012. The Honda CR-V launch will apparently follow the launch of new Honda City as mentioned earlier, to 2012 Indian Auto Expo.

Honda India has showcased the Honda CR-V concept car earlier this year and the recently spotted test mule confirms that the new CR-V is a slight makeover from the outgoing model. The 2012 Honda CR-V is believed to come with a redesigned grille in the front, taking a trapezoidal form with minor touches of Chrome. The rear end of the car is endowed with a classy look to take after the Volvo XC90 SUV. Overall, the new Honda CR-V looks majestic, slightly overgrown in proportions. However, one might continue to speculate if the new SUV is designed to accommodate five passengers or seven passengers. In any case, as the SUV is designed basically for the U.S market, an ample luggage space is expected to be offered on the new Honda CR-V. Therefore, the Indian launch is slated to take place after the U.S launch, for which it is primarily designed.

The U.S. bound Honda CR-V will carry a 2.4 liter and a 2.5 liter petrol engine, while SUV targeted for the European markets will be introduced with a 2.2 L diesel engine Thailand is the key manufacturing hub for Honda Motors, which supplies the components to its other manufacturing units globally. The lack of component supply has led to a major production crisis hindering the production of its best-selling models Honda Brio and Honda Jazz. Honda Motors has to rely on alternative methods to seek the supply of the components. Furthermore, to avoid such situations, Honda motors envisages increasing the localisation of its component production in India in near future.
