2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class launches tomorrow, May 16

Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch the 2013 GL model in India tomorrow. The new GL is an upgraded version of the current model, however, the company has made considerable changes to its looks, making it more aggressive as well as elegant. It seems that the company has installed most of the ingredients from its M-Class, and the front of the vehicle features a daytime driving lights. More interestingly, Tennis legend Boris Becker is here in India to launch the new SUV. The German auto major had officially announced the launch to happen on 16th may, and started a contest on its Facebook page, which will give a winner a chance to meet the icon Boris Becker. 

New Mercedes Benz GL Class

The new 2013 GL-Class sports a 3.0-litre diesel engine that coupled to a seven-speed automatic gearbox develops 255bhp and 632Nm of torque. Despite higher performance, the 2013 GL is now 20 per cent more fuel efficient in the European driving cycle, thanks to the reduced weight, as it is 90kg lighter than the current model. The luxurious vehicle also comes equipped with an option surround view, which provides 360 degree view of outside to driver via four different cameras placed on the car. The electronically adjustable third row seat will also comes as standard.

Electrically-controlled steering, electric parking brake and an optional audio system & Olufsen with 14 speakers gives an output of 1200W, and many others are added to the car, making it more luxurious and feature rich. Initially, the new version of the GL will be brought in India as CBU, but the company will start producing vehicle locally (CKD) by the end of this year.
