2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Spied

Indian car market is becoming an important destination for the globally recognized car manufacturers, and nothing is different for the Mercedes-Benz. The current scenario suggest that the Audi India is gaining huge market share, leaving both Mercedes-Benz and BMW far behind - in terms of sales. So, it is important for Mercedes-Benz to foray more vehicles to regain its lost ground in India. The German auto maker has recently launched the new GL-Class SUV and A-Class premium hatchback, and is soon going to introduce the new E-Class on June 25 in India. Recently, the new Mercedes SLS AMG was caught testing, and it seems like the company aims to revise its entire global lineup. This time WorldCarFans managed to click the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which was spotted during its test mule.

The spotted vehicle looks larger and more refined than the outgoing model. The 2014 C-Class comes with an all-new front fascia with sleek and soft curves and large air-intakes. The front adorns a two-bar grille, a dual exhaust system, while the rear gets the S-Class inspired taillights. The 2014 C-Class will be developed on a new MRA platform, which is lighter and longer than the previous platform. This architecture will help the company to increase the cabin space with additional rear seat legroom and a larger boot that will accommodate approximately 500 litres of luggage. It is also reported that the vehicle will be 70kg lighter than its predecessor.

It is expected that the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will have multiple engine options. A 2.2-litre four-cylinder engine, which will be tweaked to develop three outputs 170bhp, 204bhp and 231bhp respectively. A 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine that develops 156bhp, and the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine that also produces three output 184bhp, 211bhp and 252bhp. A 333bhp, 3.0-litre V6 engine, and a hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants as well as an AMG model with a 4.0-litre V8 engine that develops around 462bhp.

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is likely to be introduced at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, and the sales of the vehicle will be started later. It is quite early to comment whether the new C-Class will make its way to India, but the current Mercedes strategy makes us believe that we could soon or later see number of new vehicles launching in India. However, if it comes to India, then it would be around late 2014 or by 2015.
