Last but not least, top-of-the-line Mustang GT receives a 5.0-liter V8 engine, good for 435 bhp and 541 Nm of meximum torque. All the engine options will be available with the choice of a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed autobox with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
"This EcoBoost engine delivers the healthy output Mustang drivers expect, regardless of the car's speed," said Scott Makowski, EcoBoost powertrain engineering manager. "It delivers where a Mustang driver expects it to – with a broad, flat torque curve and great driveability under any conditions."
In addition to the power figures, Ford has also revealed some other facts such as weight distribution statistics, details about new equipment for the Mustang, including a trio of brake systems, performance packs for the EcoBoost and GT.
With 52 percent on the front axle and 48 percent on the rear one, the EcoBoost claims the best-ever weight distribution for a Mustang. While the GT model bear 53 percent on the front axle.
Coming to the brake kits, the entry-level V-6 and the EcoBoost model's kit is a two-piston front setup on 320-mm rotors, with a single-piston rear caliper clamping 320-mm rotors. The EcoBoost performance pack upgrade and standard Mustang GT brakes are four-piston front calipers on 352-mm rotors, with single-piston calipers on 330-mm rotors in the rear. The Mustang GT’s performance pack upgrade adds six-piston Brembo front calipers on 380-mm rotors and single-piston rear calipers with 330-mm rotors.
