Prices starts at £18,640 in UK, will go on sale later this year - India launch is expected next year
Skoda has made the global public debut of the new Indian bound third-gen Superb at the on-going 85th Geneva Motor Show, couple of weeks earlier it was revealed in Prague (mid-Feb). The Czech automaker has also revealed the UK pricing of the new Superb - starts at £18,640 (approximately Rs. 17.71 lac). And sales will begin later this year in Europe.
Speaking of the new Superb, based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform the new Superb saves 75 kilos overall weight compared to the on-going car. Globally, the new Skoda Superb sports direct-injected turbocharged motors - five TSI petrol, three TDI common-rail diesel drivetrains.
The TSI ranges from 125 HP to 280 HP while the diesel ranges from 120 HP to 190 HP. Skoda promises that engines comply to Euro 6 emission norms and comes standard with Stop-Start technology and brake energy regeneration.
The new Superb’s wheelbase is increased by 80 mm and it is 28 mm longer and 47 mm wider, reiterating its USP - one of the spacious offering in class. It also features entirely new design featuring sharp contours and improved overall quality.
On the inside, Superb’s Infotainment system - SmartLink includes connectivity for MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto along with 4G-LTE connectivity with wifi hot-spot.
