Mini is all set to unveil its latest Drop-Top in the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. To increase the excitement, they have released pictures of the convertible before the launch. This Mini will go on sale in the U.K. from March 2016 and is expected to arrive in India later that year. The highlights of this car are its fully electric roof which is largely improved from the previous model and an advanced rollover protection system with single-piece roll bar which has sensors that detect a possible rollover to keep the occupants safe.
Powering this “Mini” is a 1.5-litre diesel or a 1.5 / 1.2 litre petrol engine. These power-mills are mated to a 6-speed transmission with both auto and manual options. Also, automatic variant gets shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel. Electronic differential lock with Dynamic Stability Control and Traction Control are provided as a standard feature in all models.

The dimensions are slightly tweaked and the hatch is now 98mm longer, 44mm wider and 7mm higher than the hard top. The new UKL platform gives the car a 28mm increase in wheelbase and also an increase in the track widths up to 42mm at the front and 34mm at the rear. Reinforcing the structural elements along with other measures for body stiffness has made this hatch 115 kgs heavier than the 3 door. The soft top can be operated up to a speed of 30 Kmph and takes 18 seconds to deploy. The car also gets a 6.5 inch infotainment screen with Bluetooth connectivity and a USB audio connection. Park assist includes rear parking distance control and a reversing camera.
