Ford launched the new EcoSport in October last year with minor aesthetic changes and most importantly, the spruced up diesel engine. Now, the American automaker seems to be readying the next avatar of its popular compact SUV. The MY2017 model was caught on camera in South America recently.
It is expected that the updated EcoSport will make its way to the market next year. The upcoming model will be getting quite a makeover inside out. The exterior would be getting revamped headlamps, redesigned bumper and fresh set of alloy wheels. We expect the car’s front profile to look like a scaled down version of the current Ford Endeavour.
The spy pictures give us a clear look of the updated interiors as well. The instrument cluster is a new single unit as opposed to the current EcoSport which has separate pods that house the tachometer and the speedo. Going by the images, we spotted larger dials in the instrument cluster and a colorful multi-information display. The tachometer section seems to have been upgraded, incorporating a temperature gauge at the bottom. Also, the fuel gauge now resides in the speedometer pod itself, unlike the current version.
The 2017 EcoSport is expected to come powered by the same set of 1.0 litre Ecoboost and 1.5 litre Ti-VCT petrol engines which are capable of producing 125 PS and 112PS of power respectively. The diesel engine on the other hand, would be the same 1.5 litre TDCi unit that churns out 100PS.
The EcoSport currently leads the compact SUV segment. It takes on the recently launched Vitara Brezza and the TUV300. Tata is all set to enter the segment with the Nexon compact SUV as well.
