Skoda will launch it here by mid-2020

  • Skoda Superb facelift spotted undergoing tests in Indian conditions.

  • It is likely to get LED Matrix headlamps and dynamic indicators like Audi.

  • Could get a bigger 9.2-inch infotainment unit from global-spec Superb facelift.

  • It will get BS6-compliant 2.0-litre TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines.

  • Expect the updates to drive up the prices of the Superb facelift.

  • The current version of the Superb is priced from Rs 26 lakh to Rs 31 lakh.

The latest iteration of the Superb facelift was recently spied testing in India for the first time. The test mule of Skoda’s flagship sedan featured a few exterior upgrades along with the BS6 emission testing kit.

The changes are minimal, to say the least. But expect new LED Matrix headlights on the top-spec model along with LED fog lamps. The side profile is expected to be almost unchanged save for new alloy wheel designs. The tail lamps could get dynamic LED units whereas the boot lid should get ‘Skoda’ lettering in the center instead of the ‘Winged Arrow’ badge.

2020 Superb Facelift Becomes Skoda’s First-Ever PHEV

Skoda is expected to offer the Superb with a set of 2.0-litre TDI and TSI engines in a BS6 compliant form. Expect these engines to be offered with the same transmission options as before - a 6-speed manual and DSG dual-clutch automatic. Skoda also offers the Superb PHEV in select markets. It comes with a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit mated to an electric motor to produce a combined output of 218PS and 400Nm. This variant is offered with a 6-speed DSG gearbox. The Superb hybrid can also travel 55km on pure electric power.

Skoda To Launch Superb Facelift In India By Mid-2020

Although the interiors of the test mule aren’t visible, you can expect a bigger 9.2-inch infotainment unit along with various connected car features. It’s also expected to come with a 360-degree surround camera, a three-zone climate control, sunroof, park assist and ambient lighting.

You can expect the 2020 Superb to reach Skoda’s showrooms by mid-2020. While the current version of Skoda’s flagship sedan is priced from Rs 26 lakh to Rs 31 lakh (ex-showroom India), expect the facelifted model to cost more thanks to the new features and BS6-compliant engines. It will continue to lock horns with the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and the VW Passat.
