Engine options will most likely be the 2-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel from its 3-door version, but maybe in different states of tune.

Expected to be priced from Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
The 5-door Mahindra Thar is scheduled to launch in 2024 and its test mules get spotted every couple of weeks, still camouflaged. The latest spy shots of one of the test vehicles shows the LED headlight setup with circular LED DRLs. Let’s have a detailed look at the new design elements.
New Headlamp Setup
The current 3-door version of the Mahindra Thar comes with a set of halogen headlights, but with the elongated version, Mahindra appears to have decided to go with an LED setup which would be more fitting for that price. It retains the round shape for the headlights, highlighted by the ring-like LED DRLs around the LED units.
Apart from the lighting setup, the 5-door Thar will be visibly distinguished by a longer wheelbase, 2 additional doors, a new cabin design and a sunroof as part of design changes.
Features List
The five-door Thar can also get some additional features, including a bigger touchscreen infotainment system (possibly a 10.25-inch unit), that has been spotted in recent spy shots. Since it will use a fixed metal hard top, it will be fitted with a sunroof too. The 5-door Thar can also get dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents.

Regarding safety, it could get up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), traction control, hill hold and descent control, and a rear parking camera.
Powertrain Details
The 5-door Thar is set to get the 2-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines from its smaller version but these engines will most likely be in a higher stage of tune. Mahindra can offer these engines with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions, and like the 3-door version, the 5-door Thar can also come with both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options.
Price & Rivals
Mahindra will launch the 5-door Thar sometime next year at an expected starting price of Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). The longer Thar will be a bigger alternative to the Maruti Jimny and will rival the 5-door Force Gurkha.
