The future of Logan, JV’s lone product, was not certain when the joint venture between Mahindra & Mahindra and French carmaker Renault came to an end. This was a three year old joint venture. The customers had no idea about the cohesion and continuity of the venture and they also did not know about the positioning of the model. The sales were also heading southward. But ever since Renault has separated itself from Mahindra and Mahindra, the sales of Logan have touched new heights. In April, JV had sold 303 units of Logan while the Logan sales just doubled to 752 units in July. According to a top M&M official, several factors have been responsible for pushing up the numbers. These factors include price cuts, re-positioning of the brand in the ‘C’ segment, a well focused customer group and the greater customer confidence, said the official. At present, Logan is competing with Maruti Suzuki’s Swift Dzire, Hyundai’s Verna, Ford’s Fiesta and Tata Motors’ Indigo.
