Only a 100 units of this limited-edition electric SUV based on the top-spec Fisker Ocean EV are headed to India
It was back in early 2022 that we got to know about Fisker’s plans to enter the Indian market following an interview with the company’s founder and CEO Henrik Fisker. He was in India for the establishment of Fisker’s office in Hyderabad when he announced that some units of the Fisker Ocean EV were India bound in mid-2023. On cue, the American EV maker has confirmed that it will arrive in India by the end of this year. Only 100 units of the electric SUV, called the Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition (named after Fisker’s Indian subsidiary), will be on offer as part of the initial homologation in September 2023.

What Is The Fisker Ocean EV?
The Ocean EV is Fisker Inc’s debut product, which is globally offered in three broad variants: Sport, Ultra and Extreme. Fisker had also introduced a 5,000-unit limited Ocean One model which has already been sold out. The EV maker is currently making the Ocean EV with its partners in Austria but it has already revealed its plans to locally produce its vehicles at an Indian facility in the future.
Ocean EV Battery Packs And Range
Although the global-spec Ocean EV comes with two battery pack options, the India-spec model will come with the top-spec Extreme’s larger 113kWh battery pack. Fisker has only revealed performance details about the dual-motor all-wheel-drivetrain (AWD) setup offering up to 564PS and 736Nm (with Boost).
While the Ocean EV is not positioned as a sporty offering, its performance output is good for accelerating from 0-100kmph in under 4 seconds. This system also has an impressive WLTP-rated range of up to 707km on the regular 20-inch wheels. It can disconnect the rear drive systems if not needed, which is likely helpful in attaining those range figures.
The entry-level variant, on the other hand, gets a single-motor front-wheel drivetrain (FWD). It has an EPA-rated range of up to 402km which could easily be around 500km under WLTP estimates. The Ocean EV further packs a solar-panel roof that can also add charge to the battery, when fully exposed to sunlight, for more than 2,000km worth of range in a year.

A Stunner Inside And Out
One of the highlights of the Fisker Ocean EV is its design which includes sleek lighting elements at the front and back. It also has a kink in the windowline leading up to the narrower quarter glass panel. Fisker is providing the Ocean EV with optional 22-inch aero-optimised rims but they might hurt the range a little.
Inside, the Ocean EV has a minimalist-looking cabin that comprises sustainable materials. The attention-grabbing piece, though, is the mammoth free-floating 17.1-inch touchscreen which rotates between landscape and portrait modes.
Feature Highlights
The Ocean EV is a premium offering and as such gets a wide range of premium features. The top-spec Ocean Extreme gets a powered tailgate, front and rear heated seats, a 3D surround sound system, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Expected Price And Rivals
The European prices for the Fisker Ocean Extreme convert to approximately Rs 64.69 lakh; but with logistics and tariffs for the limited-edition, completely built-up units (CBU), it could be priced around the Rs 1-crore (ex-showroom) mark in India. At that price point, the Ocean EV will go up against the Audi e-tron, BMW iX and Jaguar I-Pace.
