The Fisker Ocean is the American brand’s debut product, an electric SUV with a focus on sustainability. It made its global debut in 2021 and its series production is due to begin in November. With more than 60,000 units ordered, Henrik Fisker, the company’s Founder and CEO, has confirmed that some of them are headed to our shores as well.
The Ocean SUV is globally offered in a few different variants and with the choice of two battery sizes. The smaller battery variants promise 440km of range while the larger one has a peak estimated range of 630km, the highest in its segment.
Its most affordable variant uses a single electric motor to drive the front wheels, while the other trims use a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup that also packs more performance. We are told that the better-equipped trims of the Ocean are the ones coming over, including perhaps a unit or two of the limited edition Fisker Ocean One.
Fisker aims to offer distinctive vehicles in whatever segment it competes in. As such, the Ocean packs a solar-panel roof that can also add charge to the battery when fully exposed to sunlight for more than 2,000km worth of range in a year.
It has a somewhat minimalist cabin that uses sustainably sourced materials and features a 17.1-inch central touchscreen that can rotate between portrait and landscape modes. The premium offering will also be equipped with ADAS tech and drive modes.
The styling of the Fisker Ocean SUV also helps it stand out in an expanding sea of electric mid-size SUVs. It has sleek lighting elements front and rear, with thick cladding all around. As standard, it comes with 20-inch wheels while the optional 22-inch aero-optimised rims seen here give it serious road presence.
Fisker is currently manufacturing the Ocean SUV with its partners in Austria, from where it will be shipped across the world. Deliveries for some European countries and the USA are expected to begin before the end of 2023. For current and potential Indian customers, Fisker is looking to open showrooms in some metros to introduce them to the brand.

Its global pricing, as converted, ranges between Rs 31.43 lakh and Rs 53.88 lakh (including European value-added-tax, but excluding import tariffs and other fees). As a fully-built import, the SUV’s on-road price in India for the top trim could easily reach the Rs 1 crore mark. At those prices, it competes against the likes of the Audi e-tron and Mercedes-Benz EQC.
