Audi India sales up by 201%

German luxury car manufacturer, Audi announced its sales figures for year 2008. Audi India reported today that it records vehicle sales volume countrywide grew up by 201% with 1,050 units as compared to 349 units in the previous year. The last quarter of 2008 has been impressive for Audi India as its sales grew up by 229% with 273 units as compared to 83 units in previous year. In the month of December Audi India sales increase by 145% with 76 units as compared to 31 units in same month of previous year despite the overall slowdown in auto market.
Audi India Managing Director Benoit Tiers said, Inspite of the adverse market situation, the year 2008 has been an exciting time for Audi India as we not only have achieved but exceeded our projected targets. We tripled our dealership network as compared to the previous year and we are confident that we will take the brand even further to another level in 2009.
In 2008 Audi India launched the new Audi A4 and the super sports car Audi R8 in India. The Audi A4 recorded impressive sales figure in the last quarter and the Audi R8 was sold out for 2008 even before the official launch.
The year 2008 also confirmed the Audi's faith in the world's most promising auto markets. In 2007 Audi India already successfully started the production of its most successful luxury sedan - Audi A6 and CKD-production of the new Audi A4 from October 2008 onwards at the group site at Aurangabad.
In order to provide full benefit to its customers, Audi India recently announced its price reduction of of its all models in India in response to the government's announcement of revision of excise duty and central value added tax (Cenvat) by 4%.
The prices resulted in a reduction of Rs. 2,79,000 of the Audi A8, Rs. 1,85,000 of the Audi Q7, Rs. 1,51,000 of the Audi A6 and Rs. 1,21,000 of the Audi A4. In the mid of December Audi India also announced a special offer to its customers - a 0% financing rate and an extended 4-year warranty for the Audi A6 range in India.
Audi India model range comprising the new Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A8, Audi Q7, Audi TT and Audi R8 is available at present at 12 dealerships across the India : in Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Ludhiana, Chennai, Kochi and Kolkata.
