Audi plans new plant at Aurangabad for Q7 and Q3 SUVs

Audi India is planning to take on its rivals, BMW and Mercedes Benz by setting up a new plant ,for its SUVs in Maharashtra. According to a senior employee from the company, the new manufacturing plant, setting up in Aurangabad,will produce Audi Q7 and Audi Q3 SUVs, thus increasing Audi India's inventory to 8000 units. Michael Perschke, head,Audi India, believes that Audi Q3 will help drive growth in 2012. The company plans to bring in atleast one innovative model which could capture the market every year,for the next few years. He announced Audi India's growth by highlighting the 80% increase in the sales last year.

Audi Q3, which will be competing with BMW's X1, Mini Countryman and Mercedes' B class will be priced in the range of Rs 25- Rs 30 lakh range. Moreover the company plans to launch its smaller sedan, Audi A3,to build its own level in the market. The Audi TT model will be launched in the beginning of the year followed by the Audi A4,which is perceived to lead to an increased demand for Audi. Further four other models including the S6 will be introduced this year. Adding to this,Audi India is planning to broaden its reach by entering the comparitively smaller cities like Nagpur,Bhopal,Lucknow and Goa.
