After a series of teaser images and videos, Audi has finally taken the wraps off its big and bold 'Prologue' concept. As wide as an A8 and just a few inches shorter, the stylish coupe showcases the brand's new design language, crafted by the last-year appointed design chief- Marc Lichte.
According to Lichte, while designing the Prologue, he incarcerated core Audi characters- sportiness, lightweight design and quattro allwheel drive, and presented them in the form of a luxurious coupe. He also mentioned that Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO race car from 1989, the original A8 and the TT, were the models from Audi’s past that have influenced the design of this all-new stylish coupe.
Prologue is unmistakeably Audi, yet ushers in a different design for the firm. The coupe has an aggressive front end, incorporating signature single-frame grille, much wider and lower than ever before. The strong horizontal effect on the bold front-grille, portraits a really powerful image. The headlights, for the first time, feature a new graphic and combine two separate technologies including laser light and Audi Matrix beam-splitting. While its side gets flowing elegant lines and the muscular fenders mimic those of the Ur-Quattro. Even on the rear, the new-design is evident as the trunklid is angled in the driving direction and is reminiscent of the side and rear views of a luxurious yacht.
Powered by the Audi’s familiar 4.0-litre TFSI mill, which in the Prologue has been tuned to deliver a massive 605 bhp and 753 nm of peak torque (with overboost), mated with Audi’s eight-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox. The coupe acceleartes from 0-100 kmph in just 3.7 seconds.
