The German luxury car maker Audi has started the local production of its luxury SUV, the Q7 in India at its Aurangabad facility, which was coming via CBU route till now. The company is aiming to produce up to 1,000 of the Audi Q7 annually in India, while it already assembles other cars like A4, A6 and Q5 in India.

The company is also planning to start the production of Audi Q3 by Mid- 2013 from the same plant, taking the number to 5, and third Q model to be built locally.
"This would reduce the waiting time for the customers besides enabling us offer a wider range of versions in the Indian market," says Michael Perschke, Audi India head. He also said that the growing demand for Q models in India has had a major impact on company's growth in the sub-continent. Perschke further says, "During the first ten months of this year, we increased sales in the Indian market by 55 percent to 7,273 vehicles, surpassing its last year's record sales of 5,511 cars,"
