Audi India is planning to bring at least 3 new cars in India in 2012. Apart from these new cars, the German auto maker is also thinking of expanding the production capacity of its Aurangabad plant for launching two more new products. According to the director of Audi India, Mr. Michael Perschke, the firm will soon take a concrete decision on the basis of viability of the car models for the country. The company is planning to roll out Audi TT by the end of March 2012, which would be followed by the much anticipated Audi Q3 and the very chic Audi S6. Globally, Audi India has plans to come out with 18 new cars, which includes Audi A3 and Audi A1 Sportsback. In India, Audi successfully sold around 5511 cars in 2011, which is a hike of 84% in sales as compared to 2010.

Internationally, Audi has managed to sell a whopping 1.3 million cars in 2011. Mr. Perschke accepted the fact that Indian car market is one of the most thriving and flourishing car markets for Audi across the globe. When enquired about the expansion plan at its Aurangabad facility, Mr. Perschke commented that the company has few plans to add on a brand new line at its manufacturing plant in Aurangabad by the end of 2012. There will be an extra hall specially built for Audi that will have an additional capacity for minimum of two more products.

However, there were no exact details provided on the investment that would be made on the expansion at Aurangabad facility of Audi. When Audi came into India in 2007, the preliminary investment for India was about 30 million euro till 2015, out of which Audi has already used around 70%. Hopefully more investment will be done and would be used intelligently in future to expand its market share in India.
