Audi, a part of Volkswagen group, won five awards in the 2014 Connectivity Awards 2014. The winner were chosen through a reader survey conducted by auto motor und sport and CHIP, in which 42,500 readers chose the best connectivity features. The brand with four rings came out top in these five categories: Navigation, Telephone Integration, Sound System, Entertainment/Multimedia and Connected Cars. The awards ceremony will be held in Stuttgart on September 17th.
“The awards show that we are on the right track,” said Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, Technical Development. “We consider connectivity to be a megatrend that will keep us busy well into the future. We use Audi connect to seamlessly connect our automobiles with their environment – with the driver, the Internet, infrastructure and other vehicles.”
Audi's MMI navigation plus system, the phone box, the Bang & Olufsen Sound System in its S3 and the LTE wireless communication standard were amongst the winning technologies. Audi TT compact sports car was awarded as the best-connected car in its respective arena. The connectivity highlight in the compact sports car is its virtual cockpit, which includes the instrument cluster and MMI screen into a central, digital unit, and sets new standards with dynamic animations and precise graphics.
“Electronics play a key role in vehicle connectivity. Our team has worked hard here over the last few years. Awards like this spur us on to further pioneering achievements,” added Ricky Hudi, Head of Electrics/Electronics Development at AUDI AG.
The awards were given in total ten technological categories, in which five were independently won by Audi, leaving behind many automobile and mobile phone manufacturers, cellular phone service providers and software companies, who competed for the top spot.
