Not up for small cars ?Though small cars may be the flavor of the season, the companies are assured of a good market with their launch of sedans and SUVs spread over the next eighteen months. These models will be available in the market, beginning with Rs. 8 lac price tag pushing up to Rs. 1 crore.

The companies that plan the big ticket launch include Toyota,Tata Motors,Mahindra and Mahindra,Renault,Skoda,BMW and Mercedes.

Toyota seem to be gearing up in the race to present its Sedan for the bottom end market priced below Rs. 10 lac which will be a mid size version of Etios. The Etios sedan will be priced competitively and could go below the company's existing Honda City that is priced around Rs. 9.5 lac.

It seems that Toyota is the only manufacturer that is interested in launching low end sedans. Other companies, in no mood to do that, will be targetting the high end customers with cars priced above Rs. 20 lacs. The sale is expected to reach up to 10000 units each year.

Mercedes has been battling it out with German kins BMW and Audi to retain their position as the top high end car manufacturer.Mercedes has already brought out its S500L that is priced at 1 crore, which is also the most expensive car to be assembled within the country. The company has decided to launch a coupe version of its E-Class Sedan that would be priced around 60 lacs

Audi is also not far behind in the race as it has plans to roll out all-new version of its A8 sedan by the end of this year.

Tata Motors is also set for launch  the Jaguar XJ, the luxury sedan in various markets. In India, the model will be priced around Rs 1 crore, and deliveries will begin from June.

Renault will enter with the Fluence, a car which will launched in the mid-end of the sedan market. The Fluence is expected with a price tag of Rs 10-12 lakh..
In this race Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car maker is nowhere behind with the launch of the Kizashi in India later this year.

The launch will not be restricted to sedans alone, and will spread over to SUVs too. Skoda's Yeti will hit the Indian road by the middle of this year. The vehicle is expected to be priced around Rs 15 lakhs.

Mahindra is also coming up with a new SUV in the market that will be placed over its flagship Scorpio. The new ‘world SUV' of the company will be unveiled in 2011 and is expected to be priced upwards of Rs 10 lakh.

BMW will launch its X1 range in India by the end of this year at a price point below Rs 27 lakh.

Another addition to the SUV models will be by Tata Motors which has lined up the Aria, a 2200cc diesel engine multi-purpose vehicle that it launches later this year. The vehicle is likely to be priced around Rs 12-15 lakh.
